VAR (PL introduction 2019)

I’m more p*ssed off when a ref and Lino takes a guess and awards a penalty or goal when it wasn’t - i’ll take waiting a couple mins for a correct verdict on the odd occasion any day.
Problem with VAR - it will get 9/10 decisions correct but you will only hear the whinging and moaning from the 1/10 decision that it doesn’t get correct.
It needs to be on the screen, in the stadium, with all dialogue heard, then it will work, and be transparent, no matter how long it takes, oh and all that time needs to be added, last night our game lost probably 7 minutes of time not added, that's not right, even if the decisions were all correct.

Season ticket holder all my life and admittedly I haven’t sat through a VAR incident - I can understand the frustration of waiting for a correct outcome - but surely that pales in comparison to the frustration when a ref wrongly gives a red card or penalty against your team when that was totally not the case.

I don’t know. Most decisions you only find out they were incorrect well after the game has finished. Football has managed with imperfections for a long time. I really don’t like these delays. I gave Rugby up because what is a clear try is being looked at on the big screen time and time again, especially when Sky are in town (surprise surprise)

I get your point and I’m sure loads will share it, including Pep but it’s a no from me.

If they must keep it then the ref should announce what he is looking at. We didn’t have a clue on Tuesday.

VAR was embarrassing on Tuesday night - fortunately I'd gone for a pint on 36 minutes and was on the concourse missing the worst of it for Goals 2 and 3 - but the liner in front of us in the East stand was shocking so it was needed

I agree. there is nothing worse than having a penalty wrongly awarded against you. If only we had VAR in the Schalke first leg when the referee correctly awarded a corner. To make it better you could also have a pitch side monitor that doesn't work that the referee cannot use to view the corner again. That way he can't be ordered to change his decision by a bloke sat miles away watching 36 different angles in super slow motion for 5 minutes. Yep, Uefa at their best.

Just imagine a 93:20 moment that goes to VAR.

The answer is:
you need to have top match officials for top football level.
They only need VAR for very close situations or when their view is limited.

93:20 had nothing to do with VAR, and they could check the scene while celebrations go on.

And IF it were a wrong goal - well, fine.
That's what VAR is made for.
