VAR (PL introduction 2019)

It's not bollocks the stat was in one of the links I provided

It's not an excuse because the what if scenarios will be fixed over time

you haven't provided any evidence to support that players, managers or fans hate it.

From Raphael Honigsteins twitter
Apparently 47% of players in Germany want it gone. Source is Kicker

Bang on. Afucking stupid idea that will ruin the game.

Give the refs their power back. Stop players swearing at/surrounding/harranguing or even talking to the ref. Take their decisions on the chin and get on with it.

Kids won't have VAR at school or on the rec.

It's a simple game which had simple rules. Sort the shit offside rule out or even get rid altogether.

If the tv companies and their pundits wanna bang on about ref's 'mistakes' in order to generate controvesry, viewers and revenue, let them. Just gotta make sure they don't change the rules of the game to do it.

Pay 50 notes for a ticket then have to turn around a watch a giant fucking telly to know what's going on? Fuck that.

VAR will ruin the game and i'll go and watch Radcliffe Borough instead.

Wont even be able to watch the replay. Just gonna be standing there not having a fucking clue what is going on.

There was a debate on radio 5 live this morning about VAR and I was on giving my opinion. VAR simply cannot work for what they are calling the four reasons for using it. All of those four things are subjective and as a result open to opinion, bias and interpretation. VAR will slow the game down ruin the game in fact, and I believe the vast majority of fans are against it. You cannot have a degree of subjectivity with a penalty decision. As blues we all though the two pens v Leicester and palace were shocking decisions but nomatter how bad we thought they were the ref believed it was a pen and I have heard pundits also say they were pens. Those decisions simply cannot be referred to VAR because they are based on opinion. What I also said was that I was not angst technology and I was advocating an appeal system where each captain gets one appeal per match ( or maybe one each half ) but only for the following scenarios which are not subjective and open to interpretation, i.e. are base on 100% factually correct situations. Firstly, offsides where it can go to VAR on appeal and it is easy to quickly check after a goal is scored only, nothing else. Secondly, where a pen is given and the captain can appeal because he thinks the foul is committed outside the box. Thirdly, the captain appeal where a goal is scored and the team that concedes the goal thinks the ball may have gone out of play, e.g the goal we score vEverton in the league cup. Other than 100% factual situations like this VAR is subjective and cannot work. It will slow the game down and in fact ruin it. It has been proven to be unpopular.

Be trialled all around Europe at the moment and its an utter shambles. I can see it killing football as we know it in the next 10-20 years
It'll take time to perfect - but it's a welcome change - games should be decided on the merit - not by incorrect referring decisions - as technology improves and is adapted into the game - referring mistakes will become less and less of an issue.

The sooner it's introduced the better. A video referee and sin bin would work better and allow the game to move on faster, but we can't carry on having these joke decisions made by referees that are ruining the game.

Over the past couple of weeks, we've had:

1. Alli's dive against Burnley
2. Gray's dive against City
3. Zaha's 5th dive this season, this time against City
4. Non-existent handball against Arsenal for West Brom
5. Soft-penalty against Arsenal followed up by two touch penalty against Forest
6. Joke penalty awarded to Stoke in FA Cup by referee making up for the fact that he ruined the Stoke V Liverpool game

Joke refereeing is ubiquitous and is ruining the game. Diving, the other scourge, is a product of this. Next, we will have teams just playing to win penalties because that's the easiest way to score which is pretty much what Zaha does already.

Wont even be able to watch the replay. Just gonna be standing there not having a fucking clue what is going on.

We could watch the ref on the big screen, watching his small screen and then when he turns around and says yay or nay we can all cheer.
In fact that gives me an idea; get the 'Oh no' and ' GOAL' jingles off piccadilly radio and use them

Referees have made wrong decisions since they were introduced in the 1870's but that doesn't seem to have ruined the game so far.
