VAR (PL introduction 2019)

Sounds as though the PL will be doing its own thing to some degree.
The not expecting balls to be kicked at hands suggests that they will not be letting players benefit from doing so.

So with the introduction of technology the PL will change nowt - still Dipper/Rag leg ups!

ON a more serious note, not that the last comment was flippant(!), I noticed in the recent WWC games there were several incidents where the players involved knew that the ref had got the goal kick/corner or throw-in decision wrong. The millions watching saw in slo-mo after about five seconds. That could be shown on the big screen for the benefit of the spectators AND the ref and within a twinkle the decision is corrected. AFAIR no one scored a goal directly from the play where they benefited but teams HAVE scored from getting a corner that was a goal kick and from getting a thrown-in they weren't entitled to! Single figure seconds, and no need for the three or four minutes they're taking now!

And, like the dippers last season at Newcastle, a free kick they weren't entitled to from which they scored.

This is the inevitable conclusion of VAR (as pointed out by John Nicholson last month in this excellent column: https://www.football365.com/news/on-the-scourge-of-var-football-should-be-poetry-not-mathematics).

It will gradually creep into every aspect of the game, because when you're sole argument is that we must always get the right results, it's ludicrous to allow instances like the one you've pointed out above.

I've seen people who support VAR using the example of the penalty given to the USA in the WWC final on Sunday.

This was one of the quickest VAR decisions I've seen and it was still 3 minutes from when the foul took place to when the penalty was taken. Now imagine half a dozen such VAR reviews each game.

So, Var may be used in different ways depending on what league it is ?
That'll really work, maybe add in another way in the CL and it'll be a nightmare

i am not looking forward to seeing this var in operation, in my opinion its going to slow everything down, which obviously will not suit us.
