Venezia red card
Venezia red card
My memory isn't what it was ,but 3 or 4 seasons ago Chelsea had a goal disallowed because of a foul that occured about 10 passes before the goal. Could have been the dippers that day.'Too far back' is another one of those subjective decisions which changes depending on which team it is being applied to. Bet your house on that being ruled out for us.
Not even a foul, they scored within abot 3 passesNot 2 footed like on Sunday but still a red card
The worst example was that which denied Sheffield United a goal at Spurs just a couple of years ago.My memory isn't what it was ,but 3 or 4 seasons ago Chelsea had a goal disallowed because of a foul that occured about 10 passes before the goal. Could have been the dippers that day.
Maybe 'they' didn't want Sheff U to succeed on the Prem. With some clubs you go back two passes, others a week. The worst example was that which denied Sheffield United a goal at Spurs just a couple of years ago.
Play went from flank to flank, with numerous passes (and dare one say, 'phases'?), with Eric Dier even getting an attempted clearance during the whole passage of play.
VAR went back as far as to find a Blades toe (Lundstram, I think?) marginally offside.. hence no goal. And to add insult to injury, it took The Brains Trust in charge of VAR that day more than 3 minutes to decide.
Ridiculous in the extreme, it highlighted so many things wrong regarding the implementation of VAR in our national game. And not least, it demonstrates the impact of poor VAR decisions can have on the 'flow' or 'psychology' of a game at any given point. Sheffield United were in the ascendancy at that moment in the game and it could have resulted in them getting something more than what they actually ended getting from the game.. ie, a point rather than three..
When you say you don't want to go back to clear offside goals being given and fouls not being punished, I suggest you take a look at our recent games against Brighton and the dippers. To be honest, despite the backlash i get on here
i rarely see people discuss VAR nowadays outside of forums and social media and are gradually warming to it year by year
it was supposed to have 'killed football' and fans were all going to boycott the game and not attend - but that's simply not happened has it, if anything - it's enhanced the game worldwide and it's bigger and better than ever, in my view - the weekend games were proof of that - Liverpool annihilating Man Utd, Us Hammers beating Spurs, you lot stuffing Brighton - and most games were brilliant - VAR has not ruined the game at all.
Now, please don't get me wrong - there's some incidences where i don't agree with the VAR call and I suspect that may be the case forever - there's so many grey areas in football
but do I want to go back to CLEAR offside goals being given on a REGUALAR basis, same with fowls, goals etc. - NO.
All I simply want is the Ref to have a second chance of viewing the incident - that's all I want ! I don't want a ref being forced to make a blind decision, that is the reality without VAR and it's ludicrous when you really take that in.
If there is solid proof that officials and people at the top purposely bought in VAR to favour Liverpool and Man U then I take everything back
at the moment, I'm seeing the system improve season by season and seeing it get a lot more right than wrong
I'm not on a wind up, I know on forums you have to have a extreme view one way or the other and can't be civilized about it, but reality is and I'll always repeat - I just want a system in place for the ref to have a second look and get the decision correct - VAR is the only way forward for that at present, is it perfect? No! but would I scrap it.. No.
Sheffield United also have Middle Eastern Owners...The obvious answer is remove sky/bt

Don't forget Hawkeye didn't work when they played Villa
Come back to us when you get screwed out of a Champions League place by it.To be honest, despite the backlash i get on here

It was the Dippers, no surprise. Think the same season, Dippers v Everton, think it was Mike Dean, but VVD basically caught the ball on the half way line, then booted it upfield into the area and about 10 seconds later they score and the clear handball by VVD was not given as deemed "too far back", but in truth it was less than 15 seconds. Same game he also avoided a clear red card and penalty for last man and fouling an Everton player in the box, again not given by VarMy memory isn't what it was ,but 3 or 4 seasons ago Chelsea had a goal disallowed because of a foul that occured about 10 passes before the goal.
