In my opinion if there isn't a reaction from PGMOL after those 2 blatantly wrong decisions going in favour of the dippers , then it is clear that they are sticking two fingers up firmly to all football fans, and the explanation of incompetence is totally wrong.
Using VAR correctly should have seen both goals disallowed , but once again either the dippers receive decisions in their favour.
The PL clearly want a competitive league and PiGMOL are imo used to ensure exactly that .
I don't believe that incompetence is the explanation for these incidents, despite all teams suffering from them, because they happen too often in favour of certain teams .
Yes, I agree. It cannot be incompetence because that defies logic. I don't see how we can return to pre VAR because of the incompetence of referees and the worsening behaviour of players. However, as others have said, VAR can be a benefit to the game if used in the right way which requires radical change.
I don't want games decided by bad ref decisions but neither do I want corruption.
1. The ownership of VAR is paramount. It can't be owned by PIGMOL or the PL. There should be a new body set up run by ex refs (including from Europe, e.g Germany). That body works with PIGMOL and PL but not FOR them
2. That body should be funded by the PL clubs, all playing an equal amount. The PL clubs also review how the system is working and how the new body is performing every year at a minimum.
3. There needs to be full transparency over VAR decision making so we can all hear it
4. If an incident needs more than 2 replays or uses more than 30 seconds max then it cannot be clear and obvious. No VAR check should take more than 30 seconds
5. We need to get away from all this "is his elbow offside" and go back to basic common sense as well as advantage being with the attacker. So that would mean if level (i.e no daylight) then onside.
6. VAR screens and audio should be a stipulation for being in the PL.
7. Match Commanders (whatever they are) should have no influence in VAR.
8. Those involved in making VAR decisions should be made to justify their decisions if requested by the clubs or media.
9. No ref going to the monitor.
Those 9 points may be a load of old tripe but surely better than Lee Mason and Riley in charge?
