VAR Thread - 2021/22

It might have been discussed before, but I think it is completely wrong to allow VAR in the cup competitions where Premier League clubs are at home. I totally understand why they can’t use it in lower league grounds, so why use it at all in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup? The rules for all competitions in any sport at any level should be consistent. I saw a few contentious decisions yesterday where decisions might well have been over-ruled by VAR, and only where Premier League clubs were at home was the processed used. It seems wrong to me.

It's the same for both teams playing at the time so it's fair that you have VAR where you can have VAR.

It was a bad decision, but once called to the screen refs are certain to change their minds. Basically at that point they’re getting told that a panel of their colleagues have looked at the incident several times and think the original decision was wrong.

It’d take a very strong character to stick with their original decision, and I would not call our current crop of refs “strong characters”.
