VAR Vote - On Behalf of City Matters

Keep.
scary how many clear cut goals/offsides etc would had been allowed to stand without VAR. the officials need help.

Must always evolve and find ways to improve whilst acknowledging no form of officiating will ever be 100% perfect.
Most decisions are still subjective even with VAR though. Even offsides come down to which frame they use. Disadvantages far outweigh the advantages for fans in the ground. Like the fact that for all the money and greed involved it’s still a sport that comes down to human error. Whether that’s a great like Messi missing a sitter or a ref making a mistake. It’s a game at the end of the day played by humans not robots and shouldn’t have constant interference by 5 people looking at a screen.

Nothing wrong with VAR
It's the incompetent fools running it that is the problem
I think because of the dreadful way its been used, people forget some of the extremely poor (corrupt) officiating we had before

All VAR has done in the great scheme of things is bring in more employment for PGMOL and added another level of bureaucratic fuckwittery.

Just had this sent through to the supporters clubs.

On Behalf of City Matters please follow the link below to take part in the VAR Vote. Deadline is tomorrow 5th June 2024.

Bit of a loaded question with “in its current form”.

I think everyone would rather see it improved.

You can't improve the officials who keep on making mistakes in the VAR room. The problem isn't the technology, it's the officials in the VAR room using the technology incorrectly and communicating their incorrect decisions to the referee on the pitch.

We've gone from 1 referee on the pitch to another referee in the VAR room. There should 1 referee. He should be on the pitch, not in the VAR room.

Another thing that absolutely boils my blood is a player being offside via the front of a boot or a toe. It's absolutely ridiculous! Where is the advantage in that to the attacking player? There have been numerous examples of that throughout the season. Coventry's 3rd goal in the FA Cup final semi final being a prime example. Coventry where robbed of a goal and a famous FA Cup come back victory because the official in the VAR room decided the player was offside because the front of his boot and toe was In-front of the last United player.

Done, scrap it in its current form but if the following changes were applied it "could" be a useful tool.

1) Have it run by an independent body (NOT PGMOL)
2) Broadcast live all dialogue between on-field ref and PGMOL
3) Scrap the current "1mm offside" decisions as the current technology simply isn't capable of measuring to this degree of accuracy.

Agree with 2 and 3. As for 1, I doubt very much that you're going to find a genuinely independent body when it comes to football matters.
