Venezuela economy

The hard socialists are the kind who will drive out all of this because their end game is to remove the opportunity for someone to have something someone else doesn't. As I said Corbyn doesn't want to equalize society by making everyone richer on the back of the rich making it so, he wants to equalize society by making the rich poorer.
This is the nub of it. What's pertinent is that virtually all socialism champions tend to come from the comfortably
off middle classes, ordinary working folk, although many vote Labour, they're not into the fantasy economics propounded
by socialism, which is why Blair did so well.

Oh dear. Was rather hoping this wasn't going to degenerative into another ideology thread but hey ho.

Very true. There is in reality a spectrum of right to left leaning governments all with there own inefficiencies, corruptions and incompetence. It makes the whole debate meaningless.

I would argue that addressing inefficiency, corruption and incompetence is far more important to the success of any government than the underlying ideology. From this perspective our own political system is in a shocking state. Both parties full of high charged ideological intent with no one offering anything in relation to making the state function more effectively.

And adding to my post above - voters saw a new labour government as an alternative and more competent administration than the Tories of the 80's 90's!

Yes they did, which is why they voted in Blair three times, and why he was ahead in the polls prior to election.
It all went to rat shit as we know, but his kind of approach chimed with the electorate, and he did the treble.
He didn't do it on a manifesto of state control of production, distribution and exchange.

Can we please debate the state of Venezuela and not degenerate into a socialist / capitalist trade off. That's not what the thread was for.
