Very good news about Nike

A good number of kits have been fucked up by National Associations complying with FIFA's stupid directive to wear one color. This is the age of color TV for god sake. So Spain go from red shirts, blue shorts and black socks - to looking like Liverpool, Portugal lost the green shorts, Germany the black shorts - I could go on but quite a number of classic kits have been lost. FIFA have strong armed associations to give up a hundred years of history - for no good reason.

I would rather have Kappa again than Nike . I got a nice smart Kappa training top in 1998 .
Kappa did us proud .
Kappa couldn't be seen for fucking dust as soon as the contract was up. That's not my definition of "doing us proud".

Also, laser-blue was a fucking abortion of a colour.

Yes Kappa did an Umbro on us and fcucked off when we were in the doldrums. It was still one of our best ever kits - sadly worn by one by one of our lesser teams.

I don't think Mappa expected us to fall to Division 3 / League 1 and had a business to run

It was a big seller though. I remember hearing some stat that it was a bigger seller in London than United's or something like that. Oasis' popularity helped I think.

City put the kit deal out to tender to a higher bidder (Kappa) though.
Laser blue was also a club rebrand idea...

I've not recently been to Brazil but my nephew who goes there regularly on Business trips from USA tells me that prior to World Cup mania the Sports Shops over there have MCFC kit in abundance.

The Sales people in the Sports Shop overwhelmingly wear City shirts which is definitely a plus for the way MCFC is being marketed there.
Talking to these Sales people he finds that Man City are much better 'supported' as an overseas Team for them than any other English Club.

No info about other South American Countries.

So what we want is better quality shirts, for a cheaper price, and Nike to pay us more for the pleasure? Whilst we're all acknowledging that City's shirt sales are much smaller than other top clubs

I, for one, am delighted that the world's top sportswear brand has chosen to snub United and back City. I know it's not in our nature to support global commercialisation, but its the only way we can compete at the highest level and the only way to achieve the club's long term goals. I think the Nike kits have the broadest appeal around the world, especially in the US where our brand could really take off.

Maybe some time in the future we'll be a big enough brand to get better value for money, but I think that for now our current kit deal is bang on

FIFA introduced the concept of a light kit and a dark kit, to look better on HD broadcasts. Adidas interpreted the ruling too literally IMO. Nike generally adhered to the traditions of each country - Brazil with blue shorts (though white when a clash), France with white shorts (how beautiful is that shirt btw?), Australia in yellow and green, Croatia with white shorts etc.

Other superb Nike kits this year:

Holland away
USA away
England away
Australia home and away
Greece home and away
Korea home and away
France home and away

they did a great job this tournament.

QPR gets £9 million and we get £12 million, wouldn't say that our kit deal is bang on..

Kappa's quality has declined since we had a contract with them. AS Roma cancelled their contract and switched to their own brand for a season because of It.
