Aye forums are like that, they draw polar opinions and some odd balls along the way not to mention people who just like to get a reaction.

I think it is very easy to be critical of the actions of fans towards a player from a far when you aren't always aware of all the facts or aren't emotionally involved.

Personally I didn't boo Barry but I understand those that did. The general feeling from many Villa fans was that we didn't really blame him, we thought you stood more chance of top 4 than we did, as has been proven to be the case. I don't think many begrudged him the chance or the money at this stage of his career given his service.

All that said some of his conduct stank such as his bitching in the press about O'Neill. Its very easy to say in your position you wouldn't have reacted in the same way but I think you would have done.

If the circumstances had been different and the positions of our clubs were reversed and it was your player I think I'd be seeing the same attitudes towards whoever it was on here as were expressed by some towards Barry. You simply cannot compare Dunne moving the other way and the reception he received from your fans as the circumstances are not even close to being similar.

SWP left City for Chelsea. We cheered him when he came back.

The fact that you booed a player like Barry dropped my respect level for Villa fans from quite high, to Liverpool/United levels. Besides, it is a well recognised fact that you have the most whinging set of fans in the Premiership. I also remember your conduct towards MON over the past two season, and booing your own players off when you weren't winning by enough goals.

birmingham city are propper die hards.

I know quite a lot of Birmingham fans being familiar with the area, and almost all of I've met have far more hatred for Villa than they have love for their own club. I was actually quite startled by it. We often get called bitter and obsessed with regard to the rags.. that's nothing compared to Birmingham fans with Villa. Quite a lot of them admitted at the start of this season, when everyone was expecting them to be battling relegation, that they would rather beat Villa and get relegated than lose both derbies and stay up.
i call it as i saw it, times change, buy alas some get worse as some get better, im not saying your discription isnt correct, just sayin what i know from my exsperiance of the blues fans, fortunetly those that i would call frends are die hards, but wouldnt be associated with that cetain idiot fringe that call them selves fans, by which i refer to the zoo loos yes i think i did spell it correctly.

-- Sat May 01, 2010 11:41 pm --

I may be wrong but I don't recall SWP slagging your manager off in the press in order to get his move.

Oh ok, because that is what you think it must be a "well recognised fact" if you say so fella.

As for the conduct towards O'Neill over the past two seasons, I suggest you don't listen to everything you hear in the media. O'Neill has been supported by the fans throughout his time at the club, there have only been two occasions on which his decisions have been critised on mass (not really much of a mass) but what would I know I only follow the team week in week out home and away.

There have been the odd boo's at full time in some games but I'm yet to find a ground in which that never happens.

Let's not get all high horse moral here. Some City "fans" BOOED a City player and cheered SWP (in a frickin Chelski shirt) in the same match.

No problem mate. I also have friends that are Birmingham fans, there not all bad no set of fans are there are always good, bad and fucking ugly. I wouldn't want to be judged against some of our fans as I'm sure you wouldn't against some of yours, thats football.

I'm sure even Liverpool have the odd decent fan :D

I hear that the 'great' Villa fans charged the new cordon at the end, and a couple got past it, but not much further. Bad losers ?

I lost all respect for them at "where were you when you were shit" just after kick off, this from Villa who 3 seasons ago was half empty when we beat them there.

I lost further respect with the rendition of "This City is ours", that'll be Birmingham I assume, and not Aston, that's the City they don't even have in their name (or even on their badge), unlike the team called Birmingham City. At least in Manchester the team pretending to be from "our" City, do in fact use the City's name, even though they come from a local borough.

Villa fans used to have some class, but envy seems to have overtaken them, though strangely I don't remember hearing them tell Lerner to shove his millions when he took them over after Ellis.

Lost quite a bit of respect for the Villa fans at Villa Park earlier this season, lost the rest today, fuck them.

Villa fans?

Gobby plastic glory hunting boo boys who slagged us to fuck about Barry and Dunney

This is what City thought about them outside after they tried to get past the dibble to, I assume, ATTACK City fans.

liverpol fan and decent , now you are being silly.

thought the villa fans were top today,

good fans and good luck,

handball......................... sounded top

Going away this season, I recall sitting at St Andrews and thinking how much the experance there and Villa Park are poles apart. I always enjoy Villa, lovely ground, nice fans and teams that try to go out and play football. Birmingham have none of that, their fans make the whole thing suck, their team(almost always)at set up to spoil and their ground is a shithole(but not Goodison Park level). I guess it's easy as City fans from afar to look on Birmingham as more "City like" but I for one will always look forward to trips to Villa more.

whats with all the animosity towards the villa fans ?
the way i saw it today,
loads of villa in town i fancy dress /colours
made as much noise as us
sold out
never feel threatened by villa unlike their neighbours
villa are a great club ,with good fans ,we`ve all boo`ed ex players (disten
)but it doesnt matter because football is fickle .
villa were sound today

As I said all clubs have idiotic fans, there was some half arsed flare ups at the end from both sets of fans. My mate was hit by a bottle of coke thrown by one of your lot after we scored, these things happen sadly I'm not going to let it shape my entire outlook on your club.

Its called banter fella. I think we all know your attendances were excellent even when you were shit and in a lower division, even some of us at the game today looked at each other and said "mmm that doesn't really work" when people stated singing that.

History lesson for you fella there is a reason for that. We were called Aston Villa because we were in Aston, while Birmingham were called Small Heath because, you guessed it they were in Small Heath both were outside the city. Both areas were soon incorporated into the city boundaries and both came to an agreement not to change names and to stick with their original ones. One club stuck to that promise the other didn't.

If you are going to have a pop at least know your stuff.

Oh well, we will cope.

In the ground it was the normal kids and idiots on both sides with the "if that copper wasn't stood there...." bollocks.

Something was going on outside as well but I presume it was nothing much really, we walked away chatting with city fans.
