Villarreal (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

That's probably enough to get us in the knockout stage, which is mad.

I thought we were excellent until Nico G went off, and then a bit complacent.

It's very encouraging to make that many changes, have our best player out, and look that decent, and bring players like Marmoush and Cherki on to get new minutes.

Pep's cooking something here.

Decent first half showing. We looked very vulnerable when Gonzalez went off - Kovacic isn't and never will be a hold midfielder.

Job done thankfully. Haaland again lethal, Savinho actually affected a game for once and Gonzalez again good till he got injured - we need him on Sunday badly. On to Villa Park and a tough test ahead.

As an aside that ref was an absolute clown who handed out 10 yellow cards in a game where there wasn't really a single bad challenge.

Wins a win.

But I know Pep will be concerned with how bad we are at sustaining the dominance, we only do it for like a half, been happening all season.

The left side in particular was poor, Villarreal exploited that with all their successful attacks.

Gvardiol at LB doesn't work anymore, he is use to being a CB again.

The right side was solid though.

Great win with a Good first half but very poor 2nd half. We look fooked & tactically unsure that 2nd half.

It Worries me more nobody is getting a grip when we start giving it away. No shouting from pep or a captain. Lots of needles poor passing. Boys missing some guidance

Good 1st half, like at Monaco and got that deserved 2 goal lead which we didnt at Monaco. Awful 2nd half and they had enough chances to draw and a better team would have done us.
Worrying how we are so bad in 2nd halfs, Monaco, Brentford, tonight after being in total control 1st halfs.
And the usual shocking set pieces again.
