Vincent Kompany 2015/16 performances

When Andelecht or indeed Belguim start paying his £200k pw or whatever they can have his primary loyalty.

This is an incredibly self-centred view. Can you quantify education and all the things your birth country give you? From the club's point of view it is probably the best if there were no Euros and international friendlies at all, but you have to respect the player's wish to be patriotic and play for his country at the Euros. May not be good for his long-term health, but paying him £200k pw does not mean we can strip him of such freedom of choice. What the club can do is to arrange for the best care in their power and wait to see if he can recover. Since we will be getting new centre-backs next season, he should have more time to manage his conditions.

It's a real worry, my only hope is that an off season review will reveal that our total approach to injuries, fitness, rehab etc has been a mess for the past three years.

Looked like he was holding hos groin / top of thigh area. If you were the Belgium manager would you risk taking your captain with the knowledge he may break down after a few minutes and almost certainly his body can't handle the rigours of tournament football

When I said a few months back that some staff think he may be finished as the player we knew, I received absolute pelters. Kompany is City through and through and I love the guy, but I'd hate to be in his head at the moment.

He's physically fitter than ever before, has changed his entire diet and excercise plans but he's still no nearer to finding the root cause of these muscle problems.

It's absolutely gutting but I think it's time we added a first choice CB to the squad now.

It's hard to watch him suffering like he has been. In fact it's heartbreaking considering what he's given the club and it's the main reason I tend to go a bit OTT when I read some of the bile aimed at him or snide comments. Every single City supporter should be gutted how his season has panned out.
It would be a huge shame if this is the end for him.

Belgian commentary was along the same lines: first of all he needs to focus on overcoming his many injuries, so going to the Euros is an illusion. Plus, what coach would dare to play him if you always run the risk of him limping off after 10 minutes? He could still have some years in him if he finally finds the underlying issue that causes his many injuries.
this bit did make me chuckle, what coach indeed? answers on a postcard

Missed him badly when he went off

Maybe as a leader, maybe. We weren't that bad defensively. They had some chances but mostly because we had no midfield at all. Mangala had a very solid game last night.

That's now 3 or 4 times this season he's come back and only lasted 3-4 games (not even that sometimes).
Think his only hope is forgetting the Euros, seeing a specialist and resting / recovering between now the start of next season.
If the same injuries start re-occurring next season then he's done !
