Vincent Kompany 2015/16 performances

I feel bad for Kompany. Tremendous player. Loyal to our squad. Gives his best every time on the field.

But unfortunately, way too prone to injury for whatever reason.

Can Otters/Mangala step up and replace Kompany... maybe... I hope so.

But if not, I'm certain that Pep will figure it out and get our defense playing the way he wants.

In an ideal world you'd have Kompany leading our defence going into next season because, in terms of his leadership and his footballing ability he's still got a huge amount to offer. The issue is his ability to actually get on, and stay on, the pitch.
The problem is that a situation like his is so unpredictable, and that makes planning so hard. Lesley King had a condition that could be managed, and that's much easier.
But I can't see how Pep can have a captain who may only play 1/3 of the games in a season, who needs to be reintroduced to training and match practice every time he comes back from injury.
I don't doubt his ability or heart for a second - he is a champion in every sense - but I don't see how you can build a team around him as captain or build a defence around him as a player.
What is totally clear is that our team is crying out for players like him.

Don't let sentimentalism cloud your judgment. Undoubtedly great leader and captain. But he can't be relied on anymore. You never know when he's going to finish a game.

Too soon? For who? I doubt Kompanys gone into the treatment room and took 5 to look at this thread and feel disrespected. When is a good time to bring up a reoccurring discussion, if not after a big match we have been left disappointed in after his injury yet again set us back?
There's no need to slag him off 5 mins after he has left the pitch.

Sad but true. It's got to the point where I am actually surprised if he *does* finish a game. That's pretty bad isn't it.

Kompany has to be a backup player from now on, its clear we can't build a defence around him. Doubt Pep will get rid just yet, but he won't be a key player anymore.

Everytime a player or the ball goes near him I wince.. and I'm sure so do the other players and Joe Hart.. doesn't inspire confidence.

Big Summer for him. maybe his fitness issues can be addressed. I am sure he will give everything to make it happen

We don't seem to be able to go 2-3 games without losing someone to injury. Silva one week, then Kompany. And these are our best players. Tremendously disruptive. One of the biggest issues at City right now.

What I'd be doing is cancelling all overseas tours and sending the players to some quiet centre in the UK or Europe for the Summer to get them fit, but oh no we are touring the world again. You get what you deserve over time. Run the club like a brand and the football will go downhill.

Yep, me too. But the club seems reluctant to pass up the opportunity to earn more and gain more fanbase that they plan a trip to the far far East, where players will probably spend more time doing promotion than gaining fitness.:(
