Vincent Kompany 2015/16 performances

I think he is now at a point where he is playing with the fear of yet another injury on the back of his mind and I agree, its showing.

Absolutely. He's not picking up these injuries as part of any contact, just his body breaking down.

The best analogy would be you always still think you're young, the older you get, but then both the mirror and your body decides to remind you it ain't so.

Vinny has a long and lucrative contract and this is a very difficult situation here, both for club and player.

He has been an incredible figurehead for this club and despite his fierce desire and single-mindedness, what can't be allowed to happen is a discourse to germinate, whether that be from a sense of frustration from the fans or the new manager towards Vinny?

Vincent is supposedly a smart man, if so, he already knows deep down the hardest decision he has to take is not too long off.

Become the executive he needs to be for this club, become the pundit spokesman for this club.

Do not become a sad reflection of what was once.

Are people getting a little confused over Vinnies injury. This latest one is a groin injury isn`t it and fuck all to do with his calf problems of the past.

It's got everything to do with it, mate.

He's having to overcompensate in other areas of his body, and you start to not work as hard on those areas that haven't been an issue, previously.

Stand by our captain he's going through a tough time with all these injuries but he's one of us we have to stick by him. To many City fans just wanna just bin him off.

The biggest predictor of future injury problems is past ones. The number and frequency suggests that he is going to be plagued by performance sapping injuries for the rest of his career. I'm not one of those who want him out. He's the greatest centre half we've had since Big Dave Watson.

But when it comes to a new manager wanting to build a champion team I can't see sentiment playing much of a role.

But who knows. I certainly wouldn't be signing a player with a broken leg and a fractured ankle as a replacement though.

Hmm we'll probably have disagreements on this point but let's just see how the summer plays out.

I'm hoping time will heal Silva's wound, with some gentle stretching etc.

Kompany I really do have concerns he'll be forced to retire this summer. I can see him dragging himself back to fitness for Belgium then breaking down yet again. I can't see any medical solution, we've certainly not fixed anything so far. A long break from playing might help, but a permanent break might be the only solution to this.

Breaks aren't a worry in that the body will heal and recover from them unless they're so horrific that you have pins and all sorts patching you together. Muscle injuries are much more concerning, there's not a lot you can do other than work to specifically strengthen areas. It looks like Kompany has tried the lot. We've allowed him to rest, we've put him through strengthening work but the injury happens again and again. No idea what the solution will be. He's probably already done the Messi diet and cut red meat (which is supposed to help prevent muscle injuries), I believe Aguero has done the same.

With not being a GP I was not aware of other factors contributing to his latest new injury Tolm.

I'm not a physio or doc, either, bud!

Simply stands to reason if you have a problem with your hamstrings, you devote more time to strengthening them, calves, whatever.

McPointalot and Wio, who know a lot of about injuries, were saying exactly this the other night.

Yes sad time. Feel we've seen the best of Vinny. Great captain but can't lead if not on the pitch. Really missed someone to motivate and marshal in Madrid, as Yaya is useless as a captain. Maybe Pep will use Vinny as a squad player, seems too unreliable to build a back 4 around. Not sure why the injuries are in the first 10 mins of the game...playing in the Euros will not help his recovery. Hope he stays involved somehow, at least he can replace the rag pundits on sky and bt.
