I'm hopeful, he's seen a couple of specialists already and is now running with shaped insoles that solve the skeletal positioning issues putting a strain on his calfs. We also have a new club doctor starting in a couple of days a former player one Dr Eduardo Mauri who was the club doctor for Espanyol.

You would've thought something like that would've been picked up a long time ago, not after a dozen odd injuries.

"He has something in his muscle and we believe that was a problem for the many injuries," Guardiola said.

"I think it's the last part of that because he's training with the group. And when I see him, I say 'wow - this guy can play' because he's training like Vincent is.

"But the doctor said with what happened in the past, we have to be careful."

I worry for Vincent. Watching how the CB role is developing under Pep makes me wonder how he can develop. His passing forward has been his weakest elemement for years. Hardly incisive as we are now seeing from Stones and Otto. Vincent's fitness is only part of the picture for me.

i feel the same as you and it's a difficult thing to embrace. I wouldn't call Komps a natural on the ball and Pep wants that type of player, i honestly don't think he is going to make the team.
He might end up staying out of respect and for a future ambassadorial role, but not for his football.

I don't see that at all. Vinnys problem was when trying to hit long passes. His short game has always been on a higher level than anyone else in the back four. Now he's going to have even more options to pass it to he'll be fine. He's not as elegant as Stones or Otomendi but his accuracy is up there. He's still got a huge part to play in our future.

That last line will be proved absolute nonsense before the season is finished.

I think the opposite. Vinny has always had the ability to come forward and now with our shape he will always have several options.

I'm sure you would have worried about Kolarov and Otamendi coming forward as well two months ago. Komoany was light years ahead of them before Pep arrived and Pep will have the same effect on him as the system is designed to give options to the player with the ball.

i hope so, it's just my own nagging doubts.
It's understandable after seeing Stones and Otamendi developing a decent understanding but there's a long season ahead. Kompany will be relishing the prospect of playing his part and I'm sure it hasn't escaped Peps attention that he's the best we've got. For now we should just think ourselves lucky that a problem position looks to finally have been rectified.
