Vincent Kompany - 2016/17 performances

Kompany and Stones are the best ball playing centre backs we have. Otamendi isn't half bad but Vinnie has always been comfortable with the ball at his feet and keeps composed. Plus, the way he steps up and directly joins the attack is something Pep will encourage.

Can't wait.

It's going to be a conundrum to drop Otamendi as he is playing really well at the moment and showing why we paid the money for him. 4 fronts to fight on this season I think everyone will get their chance at some point.

Fernando showed why he has some value on Saturday, will be crucial in battening down the hatches when the kitchen sink is being chucked at us.

The way things are looking I think Kompany will be brought into the squad as a rotation option rather than a nailed on starter.

Does anyone have any idea what these blood tests are all about that keep being referred to?

Everyone will rotate, but when Kompany hits form he'll be the first choice CB, probably replacing Stones in my opinion.

As good as Otamendi and Stones have been, I'd say they still have not matched Kompany's general level of performance. Kompany is better than than at just about everything except for long passes. I think all three of them are at a similar level for ground passing.

Guardiola likes his ball playing CBs, well Vinny's the best one we have at dribbling.

They measure enzyme levels that are present during muscle repair from what I've read. He might look and feel fine, but his body says he's still healing.

Makes sense although wouldn't the club have been monitoring these type of things previously??

I want to infer that they probably didn't, and the club rushed him back when he could run again and really hadn't fully healed, causing the vicious spell of recurring injury.

It would be a disgrace if he gets in the team straight away. Stones and Otamendi partnership is getting better game by game and Netiher of them should unfairly get dropped just because kompany is back. We spent 50m on Stones and Otamendi has been amaizing so i think Vinny will be the 2nd choice from now on tbh

I think the opposite. Vinny has always had the ability to come forward and now with our shape he will always have several options.

I'm sure you would have worried about Kolarov and Otamendi coming forward as well two months ago. Komoany was light years ahead of them before Pep arrived and Pep will have the same effect on him as the system is designed to give options to the player with the ball.

Yes. Kompany is starting from a stronger position than either of them. As long as he stays fit he'll have a big part to play in the City team this year. Competition for places at CB is something we've missed.
