Vincent Kompany - 2016/17 performances

I say he shouldn't get ahead of Stones and Otamendi as they've been brilliant. He should be used as a back up to these 2

I say football doesn't work like that and the sooner he's on the pitch (when fit enough to do so of course, no need to rush) then the better shape we will be in as a club. There's no doubting the two playing at the moment have been decent and yesterday Otamendi put in probably his best performance. That said I still believe Vinny is the best defender we've got and I expect him to play his fair share of games if he remains fit.

Using the word 'disgrace' was a tad OTT..

Would Kompany be a better option in midfield than Fernando?

I wouldn't have thought so. Fernando was excellent on Saturday. That run back and header won us three points

I wouldn't be surprised to see a back 3 being used at home against the "weaker" sides. It would avoid the need for the inverted full backs to pack the midfield and Fernandinho needing to drop into a deeper position.

Its impossible to know how this would play out but on paper it looks frightening to me.

I'd love to see this against weaker sides.

Doubt anything significant. Just something lost in translation I expect. Whatever it is, Kompany seems very close to a return.

I read a while ago that City were measuring levels of particular enzymes in Kompany's body to see if he had fully recovered from his injuries / training. Maybe that is the source of the toxin story. Whatever it doesn't seem to be preventing Kompany from returning.

Enzymes / toxins / blood tests refers to testing the level of creatine kinase in the blood. It is a by product or the process of muscle repair. It can pick up issues that you can not feel or detect on a scan but it is only one part of a range of things they will be looking at. I wouldn't expect them to disclose to much. Given we have two CB's in great form i assume they will not play him in a competative match untill everything looks as clear as you can get it.

It's quite straight fowards really, i think people are getting het up with pep calling it a toxin i think this will be the last shot for vinny,exhausting all the options this time,fingers crossed he doesn't break down again,i'm forever holding my breath when he plays
