Why is it that some people on here suggest that “Vincent can't fit Pep's way of thinking”? That man is one of the most intelligent defenders I've ever seen. If there is one player who can adapt his game and learn from Pep, it's him.
Please, please, please, stay fit, Vinny…

Who has said that???

I think it's reasonable for people to of questioned the long term feasibility due to injuries, however, I can't recall many,if any, questioning his ability to play in a 'pep' team..

He's remains the best defender in the league on his day and the impact he has on those around him is unparalleled in this team, that goes for silva, yaya and kun...

I'd love to have him in every week but we need to be looking at viable alternatives now also, but if he can be managed to play 25/30 games a season then not only do we win the majority he plays, we win trophies!!

Captain, leader and an absolute model professional. Having supported City for more than 50 years, never been more proud of a player associated with our club. Those poor advertising hoardings! :-)

The key, as it has been for 2 years, is to not be in a position where we're relying on his fitness to have a good defence.

If he can only play 1 of the next 2 i would have him for the derby, beaky won't get a look in up against him,he scores mostly fom headers and vinny would get there first, plus the passion for the derby is strong in vinny so the rest of the team will feel it too

If we could only keep him fit, it'd be like having a new top notch CB. He was impressive yesterday, moreso given his top start season. Lovely to see his reaction when he scored; he was like a madman! The problem is, and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm on edge every time he makes a comeback.

A rusty first half, but history is written by the winners, so his 4 clumsy fouls (one of which wasn't awarded) will soon be forgotten.
He grew stronger as the game progressed, and we certainly look more threatening from corners.

For muppet posts you'll take some beating over the last 24hrs...

Those 'clumsy challenges' you allude to are strategic and 100% intentional given the areas they were committed.... I've noticed this pattern with you and it smells like a Lou Macari chip barm/muffin!!!

It's all well and good Vinny rolling back the years to put in a fine display, but does Pep rate him as highly as we do?

I suspect not.

Great to see him back in the form he was at before all those niggling injuries, but for how long is anyone's guess. I really hope he can stay fit and again become the rock he was for us.

He's immense.

His performances after so little game time over an extended period speak to his quality.

If every player had his mental strength, we'd walk the league. His desire to score the first goal yesterday was so important.

We have to sign an alternative but keeping Vinnie is one luxury Mansour has to afford.
