Vincent Kompany | Bayern Munich Manager

Using that metric there is only one manager in the premier league who has won the premier league and that's Pep, that means 19 managers have failed.

All Great Managers need some luck early in their careers, Also it helps that another great manager recommends you for a Job, the links to him help and open doors to players,
So very true and Vinny has got incredibly lucky to get the Bayern job, up to him now, muck or bust.

Pep got the Barcelona job with no credentials, he took it with both hands and the rest is history. It's the same with Vinny, he's got the chance and needs to take it. Every manager gets a chance somewhere, some take the opportunity and the others fall by the wayside.
No, he got the job whilst working at Barcelona and doing wonders with Barca B. Barca then took a punt on him absolutely. There was a lot more reason for them promoting within than Bayern going for a manager just relegated elsewhere.

Spot on and I should add Vinnie’s relegation season was probably more valuable to him as a individual and as a manager in his development learnt lessons which the so called elite managers never have. On a different level I know but Pep probably learnt more in the two seasons he “failed” (lol) to win the PL
Yeah top logic, I hope when we look for peps successor our first criteria is someone failing. Belter that.

I will say it for the last time for the ones hard of hearing or won't hear anything but positivity about ex players. He wasn't Bayerns first choice. He hadn't done anything worthy of getting one of the biggest gigs in football. That doesn't mean he wont do well and I hope he does, and proves his worth to lead us one day.

He can manage that team to 'success' in that league.

Managing City or anyone else to success in the PL or CL is a very different challenge.

In one you have to win 90 points to be in contention.

In the other you need good fortune and (usually) a very good team.

Vinyl remains an unknown quality as a manager and I doubt that City will take any risks now or in the future.

I'd hate to see Vinnys legacy as a player tarnished by his failure with us as a manager !!

Pep has ruined the careers of every manager coming to replace him at City. No one else is matching his achievements and everyone else will be judged by them. We need a huge reset in expectations and what success means.

A manager could win all 48 games in the championship. If they follow that up with an absolutely pathetic attempt at staying in the prem then you judge the manager at the higher level, certainly when being linked to one of the biggest jobs in football. It's like Keegan being linked with Real Madrid after us, only king kev kept us up that next season and then some. Don't need to cover old ground but simply, Komps was not qualified for a job of that size, based on his managerial career. I hope more than anyone he succeeds though.
Not a fair comparison. KK had money to build in the Championship and then again in the PL. What Kompany did with a depleted squad to storm that league was exceptional. Given limited funds he chose to stick with his playing style in the PL which maybe was naive but the alternative would have been to turn into a Sheffield united and grind out some draws, but still be relegated. Whether he deserved the job is another question but they saw his style and what he could do with technically inferior players and took a punt.

90%.

If a new manager 'takes the brakes orf' with risk and reward football like the Centurians played, and wins the league with regular high scores or a cup final 6-0, fans will back the new man.

Change is constant, evolution necessary.

You mean the squad that just came down from the prem? He hardly was running a pub team. They had a great season in the championship. They had a terrible season in the prem. Bayern did take a punt and it is why he wasn't first choice. If it is the man you want you don't "punt" on them. I would love him to be our boss one day but on merit rather than name.

Yep I mean that one. Relegated with a £65m debt that had to shift its best players (e.g. Pope, McNeil, Mee, Collins, Tarkowksi), he used his contacts in Belgium to bring in largely unknowns, contacts at City and loan deals. It's quite universally accepted that the job he did in that season was pretty remarkable.

Is that on the record?

After the promotion, he also lost his top scorer, left back and center back (THB), who all played a very important role in his system iirc.
