Vincent Kompany injuries

If he is deemed fit enough for Belgium he will and should play. Belgium doesn't give a toss if it mucks up our season they are only interested in what's in their best interests. If Vinny feels he is OK and gets the all clear from the medical team there is little we can do. And you can't blame a man for wanting to represent his country at every opportunity it's a huge honour he would have grown up dreaming of leading Belgium to glory. And in my opinion if big Vinny signs a new five year deal tomorrow I would be chuffed he is the best CB in the world, a perfect captain and a club legend. I may be biased but I would take kompany for 20 games a season over most CBS out there.
Spoken like a true Belgian!

The fact that they have sent him home, makes me think that it is another long term muscle injury in calf . If that is the case then I think the idea that he is going to ever be the first choice again is wrong. even if he gets fit towards the end of the season I think he will only be used sparingly for injury cover or when others need a break.

Them making him travel to be looked at when pep already said he hasn't trained with the lads properly for a month
That's not how it works. This seems like a new injury sustained during training after the minor knock that Kompany picked up a month or so ago. However, there was no official statement from the club regarding this, just Pep saying that he hadn't trained in a while. I would assume that the Belgium national team medical staff would want to assess the injury to know the extent of the new injury, recovery time, etc. Seems like a fair process.

It just smacks of mistrust all around to me

Cant be one rule for Vinny and one for everyone else. Clubs will try keeping their players from going to international call ups if they can by claiming injury.
Annoying but part of the game

Doesn't seem iike a fair process to me. They aren't paying his wages, we are.

The relationship between players and their national teams is that to represent their country is a very significant ambition. To compete in the World Cup finals is the pinnacle of achievement. Clubs sign top players in the full knowledge they will go away for internationals.

Doesn’t sound like he’s even remotely close to making a come back judging by what Pep said and his demeanour in the press conference when asked.

Agree. You certainly got the impression that no journalist was going to risk asking a follow up question on his continued absence.

Did he come off injured in the Belgium game it was it afterwards

I've got this nagging thought that won't go away about this

He played the entirety of the 9-0 victory over Gibraltar, on the 31st August, but in the days afterwards he complained of a 'tightness in the calf' and has not played (neither for club nor country) subsequently.

Damn...that doesn't help with my conspiracy theory once little bit!
