He is the best CB in prem according to me.
He's got the physical presence combined with finesse on the ball. Perfect for our system.

6'4, powerful, athletic, great on the ball and rock solid. Knows English football and nearly in his prime. Dominant in both boxes. It really seems like one of those signings that is a no brainer. Completely different level to Otamendi or Kolarov.

Well Gibson is nowhere near good enough. Tah isn't great on the ball, so Bonucci or Van Dijk should be the priorities for me.

was shouting for him when at Groningen , a good footballer but to be fair he did need to test himself in a physical league , then wanted him from Celtic but again our needs were else where, now we will pay through the nose but i still hope we get him,along with Mings as his understudy

But what makes him a better fit than Laporte? Both left-footed, tough, have basically the same main attributes.
Injuries? Laporte did his ACL, but that was at a very young age (15).

I think he's an excellent passer. When he played v us at the Either this season his distribution was top.

Nobody is talking about his injury. Which is a serious one, out for the season.

Big risk if you ask me. What if he does a Gundogan?

We pay the 50m and he gets another injury after a month or so. Would seriously derail our season. Not worth the risk for me, especially at that price.

Id agree but bearing in mind Pep saying we need a bit more physicallity to deal with the Costa, Lukaku types think he may go fo Van Dijk over Laporte.
