Pep can make VVD world class. Think he would be perfect fit
As we're still challenging for all four trophys at this stage i think getting a defender in is a must. My only concern is VVD is right footed when ideally we need a left sided defender.
Game 1 play Otamendi & Stones. Game 2 Stones & VVD. Game 3 play VVD & Otamendi. Repeat. Everyone gets the same number of games. Each gets to play two out of every three games. Inevitability there will be a sequence of more games given injuries and suspensions. Everyone can be kept happy.
With Stones and Otamendi having big roles to play for their countries this summer having VVD ready to go at the start of preseason will be a huge boost.
VVD also strikes me as a leader. Can't have enough of them.
A former manager of mine, who is a Liverpool fan, bumped into me a work just before Christmas. After commenting on what a great season he thought we were having he joked, 'If you get Virgil Van Dyke its over between us!' Don't under estimate what affect this signing will have on other clubs and their fans.
You could say all of the above about Sanchez as well.
If Pep can turn Otomendi into City's Ramos, Stones into a rock at CB, and coax performances out if Mangala, imagine what he could do with VVD?
With Vinny fluctuating between the injury table and constantly looking like he needs game time, Mangala on his way out, there is a real need for another top CB.
I'm sure Vinny is well aware that barring a miracle, his playing days are coming to an end, after almost a decade at City it's only right that he is kept on at the club, not only in a coaching role, but as a shining example to our youth teams of how to conduct yourself on and off the pitch
It could be we he' up against better oppsition in CLVan dijks plays mostly on the left for Southampton, it isn’t a problem.
