Why do people still think we are in for VVD?

He clearly only wants Liverpool, he already turned us down. He is also way to expensive.

I do not remember him saying that but there was a quote saying he wanted to play for liverpool , this came like nearly everything else came from the liverpool echo and was part of their tapping up.
cannot remember what exactly liverpool fc said about stopping their pursuit of VVD but you can bet they are sailing close to a ban.

I think in terms of pure defending he's better, personally. We know that the demands on a central defender are different under Pep though and you'd have to suspect that it could be utter carnage with Mangala back there and us trying to relentlessly pass out from the back even when the opposition are pressing us at the edge of our box.

I think if you look you will find the vast majority in support of Stones, besides Bravo is the boo boy

he is similar to Lescott during his Wolves days when he was the best young CB in the country but everton destroyed him , just how many trophy's have we won since he left?
but now VVD is more like a young Kompany only playing on the left, as for Pique he would never have made it in England too soft.
 
Us, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and the Rags have all been in for CBs this summer and yet none have seriously been in for VVD. Seems like Pogba last season. Undoubtedly a very good player, but the price slapped on him means that there is better value elsewhere.
