VPN Advice - (2020 pg12)

I use a separate VPN on the router then I can simply decide which devices go through it.
The Amazon Firestick & Roku box for streaming football & sport go through it as does
my lap top. But not my wife's or sons machines and non of our phones.
It just gives me the flexibility and privacy that I like.
I believe that your browsing data should be totally private for a variety of reasons and not sold on
for profit or used for other reasons. Eventually a lot of organisations will have full and complete access
to your browsing & on-line usage data. As will the government and they will implement a 'reward / punishment'
system for its citizens similar to what has already happened in China with 'Social Point's system (below).

At that point the Internet will have gone full circle and will be the ultimate 'Big Brother'.
It's not far off it now but I want to resist to the death! ;-)

Wasn't that an episode of Black Mirror?

Minor question really. I’ve just got NORD VPN but can no longer get Amazon on my iPad or iPhone although I still can when I switch VPN off. Is this a common problem and is there any way to fix it?

Switch the VPN off.

See my post on the previous page, it's a DNS issue, google play hasn't been working for some time with NordVPNs DNS servers and recently amazon have followed suit. Basically amazon web addresses aren't resolving through NordVPN's servers which they advise you to use in every setup tutorial they have as they are private DNS servers which they control.

They are working on a solution but there's no ETA, so for now the workaround is either switch it off when you want to use Amazon or play or change the DNS while they hopefully find a solution. It's an easy fix to change the DNS whether you use the Nordvpn app(advanced settings) or router(basic setup) but comes with the problem of having to find and trust a free public DNS which claims not to log.

I was going to suggest quad9 but I don't trust the DNSleak result so I've opted for Cloudfare's 1.1.1.1, they've promised not to log data and any ip logs deleted after 24hrs.

Not sure I'd trust anything that came with Chrome after all Google tracks everything you do.

Dont get this
Why pay when there free ones on Chrome ?
I use TouchVPN, works great.
Plugins like touchvpn only work with a browser, other applications like p2p won't be routed through their servers. A paid service usually allows Netflix and iplayer geo-unblocking too.
