vs Sunderland Starting 11?

My guess is that any player that doesn't play for at least 45 mins on Sunday will not be playing against Sunderland. I think some players such as Mangala & Yaya need at least 60 mins against Arsenal if they're to make the Sunderland starting line up. I expect we'll have much better idea of how we will line up against Sunderland after the Arsenal game.
You're right. Crazy to think it's only two days away now.

Hello Everyone, New Member here. I am a huge fan of Pep Guardiola and have followed his Barca and Bayern team religiously, so defacto a new MCFC fan now. Whilst i think he will get more adventurous as he comes to grips with things, he will start off with a 4-1-4-1 or a 4-3-3 in his early days. looking at the teams that played the friendlies so far i am guessing he will start with Hart , Sagna, Tosin, Otamendi, Clichy, Fernandinho, Sane, De Bruyne, Silva, Nolito and Aguero.....

I think Pep will stick to what he knows at the start because of the unsettled nature of the build up. By that I mean he will have a core of Spanish speaking lads who are technically on his expected levels.

So I'd say we will be close to:

Hart

Maffeo
Ottomendi
Denayer/tosin/manga/kola/vinny/who knows
Clichy

Dinho
Nando

Navas
Silva
Nolito

Kun

Welcome, hopefully you stick around and learn about our club, its much different to the other two you mentioned (the money is secondary).

I think you're right formation-wise, he'll probably ease into the league before going for anything too daring. Not sure if he'll start Sane and Nolito though, might want to get them up to speed with the Premiership first. Arsenal game will probably show a lot, i think Delph has a chance of starting.

Welcome to the forum mate. Hope you enjoy your time following us and posting on the forum.

I agree with you we will go 4-3-3 with Silva playing a bit deeper more in a midfield 3 than an offensive three.

I think it might be a bit too soon for Tosin to stake a claim just yet and I think the midfield three will include Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva or if Fernandinho plays at centre half Fernando.

I know the way Pep wants to play, the high tempo win the ball back football and I'm happy about it but I don't think it's going to be needed to that degree in this game
Chances are we will meet a parked bus and have the ball most of the time anyway
For those games ok Delph Navas Nando but for this one id get the players on who are most likely to get you a goal so I'd start with YaYa and KDB

TBH, this will be the scenario (facing parked buses) that we will meet most weeks, so when do you envisage us seeing peps way of playing?

Quite a lot to be honest, more for this game I feel Moyes won't want a tonking in his first game and the first choice players Pep wants for his system won't quite be ready
Just my thoughts on the match

Cannot see many, other than the top clubs willing to go toe to toe with us, particularljy when we are at home. Cup games are a different matter as you correctly point out. Pep is going to figure ouyt how to overcome this approach, as he will be facing it an awful lot IMO

Hart
Sagna Otamendi Clichy Angelino
Fernando
De Bruyne Fernandinho
Navas Nolito
Aguero

Hart because he's our best keeper and I don't think we'll buy another one.
Sagna because I think he's got the brains to slot into Pep's system easily after his holiday.
Otamendi because he'll be our best and most senior CB with Kompany out.
Clichy because he's shown he can play here, good with the ball and don't think Tosin will start straight away, while Denayer hasn't played much in pre-season.
Angelino because the alternative is Kolarov, who has a long way to go to prove he deserves a place in this team again.
Fernando to sit in front of and protect the back four, a job he's very good at.
De Bruyne and Fernandinho to provide energy in attacking midfield while helping the defence.
Navas because he's quick and tricky enough to keep Van Aanholt, an attacking threat, pinned back.
Nolito because he provides something different to Navas- a more technical and direct winger.
Aguero because he's the best striker in the history of the premier league and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Bench of Caballero, Denayer, Delph, Silva, Sterling, Sané, Iheanacho.

I see Sterling as being a little bit like Kingsley Coman- quick and can play on either wing. Think Pep will be careful about overusing him for the first season.

Not sure is Sagna is available. He's in Romania tonight watching k1 boxing

Think Pep is really going to enjoy the learning curve he will experience this season,he will encounter many parked buses this season, something he strangely hasn't encountered as often as some people would think considering the two high profile clubs he has managed,as both Spanish and German clubs have adopted a more offensive approach to games in recent years.
I've got a feeling his style will have a revolutionary effect on our league in the years to come and may eventually redress the recent failures of our teams at top European level.

The only certain starters are Aguero, Fernandinho, Clichy, Otamendi, Silva and Hart I think. Delph has a good chance of starting as he's been very impressing so far.

Good response and I agree entirety
