Walcott admits diving to try and win a pen

Re: Walcott admits diving v Leeds today

Does this mean it is not a penalty?

For me this this is the key question.

If he's gone down easily( i.e. dived) does this negate the fact thats its a penalty.

Although, it was a bit soft the contact was certainly enough to deem it a penalty

Ah lads I mean fuckin hell some of you might want to come down off the high horses and take off the tinted glasses. This kind of crap annoys the hell out of me.

Our lads dive and cheat, so do most other players in other teams.

At least he had the balls to admit it.

Blatantly admitting it is called bringing the game into disrepute. Leeds deserved the win. It's not about being on high horses, we know when one of our lads throw one and the majority cringe, it's not the way game should be played. If your getting beaten fairly then underhand tactics are not warrented.
Maybe you youngsters will "go for the win at any costs" but to see the beautiful game turned into a farce, full of blatant cheats and divers, no. The FA and FIFA need to deal with this

he stood on the guys foot and then chucked himself to the floor ?

I hope he doesn't expect to get a penalty for a while because he's just marked his own card with the referees. Not too smart but it suits me fine.

Wow a great player omg he admitted he dived such a great person a wonderful young lad etc. etc.

fuck off you don't want to go to the media and apologize if anything apologize to the other team

The fact that he owned up to it says it all. How many would do that.

Yes diving is horrible but I'm guessing he is ashamed about it, hence why he broadcasted it to the world.

If it had been Rooney/Nani/Torres that apologised I would have had nothing but hate for them but to be honest when have we ever seen Walcott play act, rolling around the floor or diving?

I have watched so many Arsenal matches and he always gets up when he is unfairly tackled, so all I can say is fairplay.

Seems like a real nice guy as well.

Anyway, the dive that he said he did, I actually thought there was contact.

No one here is condoning diving, that's not the argument at all. I think diving is a huge problem throughout the game and should be looked at by FIFA and the FA. However, as it is a part of the game, its more refreshing to hear someone tell it like it is rather than a Tranny, etc. try and play it off like they're the most respectable footballer of all time. Gamesmanship is part of every sport, in Football that comes in diving, time wasting, etc. The problem isn't that Walcott came out and brought the game into disrepute, the problem is that diving as a whole goes unpunished. IMO the only way to curb the amount of diving and embellishing we see in the game today is to assess each match on video and start dishing out yellow cards to people who are trying to cheat. Until then, there is nothing to do but get a scorecard out and give players marks...
