How can it be obvious from how you look? You can be of any race and be English.

Sorry to hear that Zabba. Big difference in the way the British Lions' game was commentated upon (very evenly I thought) and the way England games are done. There's certainly nationalistic bs at play with the other home nations. Generally though I think they tend to be patronised.

Anyway no one should be treated differently because of the way they look ot because of their beliefs.

I have darker skin. That's how obvious.

There are still people who still have similar attitudes to those who sent Cyrille Regis a bullet in the post or didn't count goals scored by Black players. Those people, sadly still exist, and they feel emboldened in recent years. I was born in this country in the mid 60's and can recall a so-called City fan saying "No P*** is going in (to the Kippax) before me" to my late Dad and me in 1981 and things got better though were never perfect (I got a volley of abuse for challenginf some racist shouting "you little Black t***" at Jeff Whitley on the Kippax in 2000). Yet there are still random strangers who shout racist abuse in the street or while you're driving today. It's gone back to being as bad as the late 70s and early 80s. Not just people who are wearing England clobber or flying their flag. Happens frequently particularly to Black people. You'd be surprised how often. Try living with it.

There have always been cunts and some of these are racist cunts. It doesn't help when we have extremely divisive politicians lurching inexorably to the right, at home and abroad.

Johnson and Thatcher cloaking themselves in the Union flag is just as horrible as Blair doing same. The football press are pigshit ignorant and I think the rest of the media ain't much different. When politicians use increasingly strident language against anyone not the same don't be shocked if the press do the same. Unfortunately in my experience this behaviour has emboldened the previously mentioned racists who are far more mainstream than you would like. Cf the granuid and how differently they report on us as a club. Racism isn't just about the N word or the P word but has many nuances.
