Imagine if Wales beat England 3-0 and USA beat Iran 1-0.

Wales would have lost just one game, by two goals scored in injury time, having beaten England and ending up level with them on points and goal difference. They would have just one point less than and scored twice as many goals as the group winners, who they drew with. They would however go out having scored two fewer goals than England.

Would be even more funny if Wales and England drew and Iran beat the USA. Iran would then top the group despite being stuffed 6-2 by England in the first game.
