its all about the players and the power they now run the club pellegrini just lets them do what they like its all to soft and pellegrini just sit there and watch the world go by there is no plan B no movement no running of the ball he is clueless and should not be our manager. mancini had a iron rod its was his way and you do what your told all the work was done in training we was a team you could see what we are doing the passion on the touch line was there for all to see. yes mistakes was made and Mario was the wrong choice to back but if your mistakes are a few the success out numbered them we was a team a club and the players did what they was told

funny that i see a lot of mancini in pep a strong person and power to stand up to the players its going to his way or your out maybe that why a lot of the players are wanting out in the summer and down tools already

Bit of a defeatist comment regarding PSG.

It's easy to judge the decision to stick with him this season as poor in hindsight, but it would have been difficult to find someone willing to continue the holistic approach for one season.

What exactly is the holistic approach? Please explain? I'm all ears.

As we debate on whether to replace MP before seasons end to save our dwindling fortunes to avoid giving Pep his first taste of Europa ( great present Txiki ) and we say goodbye to the manager who not only has lost the dressing room for sure ala our previous manager the question has to be asked whether hiring MP in the first place would be viewed as the right choice for the time.

I title , 2 league cups , progress to the knock out stage in the Chumps League three times.

It of course without a doubt we will get smashed by PSG especially without VK , Joe , Sterling etc in the lineup so given that its time to start this debate.

Would we have been better placed now had we hired a younger more tactical , more forward thinking manager a manager who can set up the side to play attractive football without compromising the ability to defend and attack as a team.

We could think of a number of them and one of them is in charge of a side that will finish well above us this year.

My answer is it was a mistake as the charter of a manager is to at least leave the side in a better position and have a stronger team than the one he inherited.

Given all the investment over the past three years I would say we have regressed significantly both in performance level , attractiveness/entertainment value ( as evidenced by the number of people leaving the ground with still minutes of playing time left in a Derby FFS because most thought we had no hope of scoring which proved to be correct ).

Most managers any manager would have been able to get this squad competing effectively week in week out with what was available when MP took over so I don't think our title which won because Liverpool choked was largely due to his input.

The last two seasons we have seen the real MP which was always there from the beginning come to the fore.


I say we could have made a much better choice and would be much better placed to see the value of the likes of Nacho and one or two others irrespective of the injuries which in itself MP cannot absolve himself of completely either.

A classic point on Sunday when he shouldn't have even started with MDM , played Sagna at Centre Half , Zabba or Kolorov ( who he lost complete faith in now and vica versa ) which cost us our keeper for the remainder of the season.

He's always been gash. Gerard's slip aside he would have won 2 carling cups. He should have been fucked off last year! Never has this clown got us playing as we did in 2012 especially the first half of that season. He deserves no credit in my opinion. He has not improved one single player in the squad in fact some have gone backwards. His signings or his use of txixis signings has been diabolical he's made most look inept. His refusal to play the kids except to humiliate them at Chelsea is a disgrace. He's an absolute fraud who's record against top teams is a disgrace. He wants fucking off now.

some very good posts in here. there are many different views and many reasons for us regressing. I am in the mancini corner. I think the whole of football breathed a sigh of relief when we sacked him. we were feared, respected and were formidable under him. sacking him was the own goal of all own goals. with our money I would shown ANY player revolting the door. when MP came in he most certainly knew pep was coming, it was even posted on here ffs. he's done ok by and large but his biggest error is he doesn't learn from his mistakes. you can talk about mancini this pellers that and whatever you like about the rights and wrong about announcing pep but the bottom line is that, MP, for whatever reason is knowingly weakening our chances of finishing top four. sounds harsh I know but if someone can tell me why he would CHOOSE MDM in a Derby, or after his Norwich debacle Bony over the kid. Kelchi has already shown far more promise and in much better form already. there is no justification to leave him out over Bony of all people. the daft thing is we sacrificed Edin for Bony. ycmiu. well its city so yes you could.

We don't know if it's a failure until Pep's here. If he does the quadruple next year with the same plan and a bunch of kids from the EDS then somebody is a genius and the gamble has worked and the transition is very smooth.

Alternatively maybe Pep has said he'll rip up the plan when he comes - who knows.

If we won the quadruple next season with the same players it would only confirm that the last two years have been wasted rather than holistic.
