Water at tomorrow’s game | 500ml clear disposable water bottle allowed in the ground.

As part of the Licensing Act 2003 then any place that sells beer must also provide free tap water to its patrons. They're not doing you a favour, they're legally required to do this as is every place that serves alcohol.
Paragraph 2 to the Schedule of The Licensing Act 2003 (Mandatory Licensing Conditions) (Amendment) Order 2014 via Sections 19A and 73B of The Licensing Act 2003 to be precise…

They could claim it isn't reasonably available, and if so only to Patrons so wouldn't necessary be free unless they are paying for something else.
I think it would be difficult to argue that someone who has purchased a ticket to the game isn’t a customer, irrespective of whether they make a purchase at the bar, as consideration has passed from them to the club to enter the licensed area. That surely makes them a customer.

Potable water not being available at a servery that dispenses drinks, including draught beer, can’t by any objective analysis be held to be reasonable. It would be a preposterous defence to run, especially given the resources of the club.

When they don't have a sink with drinkable water it is, you can always fill up your bottle in the bogs if it is drinkable.

So 10 pages in which I’ve studiously read and I’m non the wiser as to whether I can bring a bottle of water in - typical City still exists sometimes!

If you have a bottle of water and a steward says it should be an empty one, if they then say it has to go in the bin, would it be wrong to say no, we are in an almost drought situation I am not wasting water?
That is what I intend to do as well as pointing out that I am a diabetic and HAVE to carry water with me. (Only type 2 but still diabetic)

Yeah, absolutely do not pour it or bin it. Calmly show that the bottle has not been opened and eventually they will see sense.

If I see this happening near my entrance I’m 100% going over, assume others will too, at which point I imagine they will back down. That said, I hope sense prevails and that isn’t required.
