The clear intent of that legal requirement is public safety and the provision of free water to customers should they need or want it. I expect it arose from the 90s when it was de rigueur for nightclub owners to turn off the running water in the bogs so people on pills would be forced to buy bottled water, which caused one or two fatalities iirc. This is relevant today, given all the warnings around dehydration this summer.

So no, telling people to fill up in the bogs wouldn’t be reasonable - and sounds really fucking small time. Can you imagine the publicity if the club ran that defence at court?

It's a disgrace. I was in the queue for the south stand and the steward was trying to stop couple taking a piece of pizza in they'd just bought from a stall at the ground. We should be able to take our own butties and drinks in. If everyone stopped buying what's on offer for a few games in protest it would soon stop.

They've been on all out strike for three weeks. Voting on an offer on Monday so hopefully back soon. Thankfully there is a Warrington bus that runs through my area but they stop at 19:30 and today the last one leaves Altrincham at 17:57 so it looks like I'm walking home today. On Sunday the last one is 17:30.
