I’m going to take a bag of Gary Ablett’s in today then!I think any court would find that the absence of a sink with drinkable water at a dispense point for alcohol (and other drinks) would be unreasonable, given the resources of the club and the numbers that it (theoretically) serves whilst it is open, especially given the weather this summer.
The clear intent of that legal requirement is public safety and the provision of free water to customers should they need or want it. I expect it arose from the 90s when it was de rigueur for nightclub owners to turn off the running water in the bogs so people on pills would be forced to buy bottled water, which caused one or two fatalities iirc. This is relevant today, given all the warnings around dehydration this summer.
So no, telling people to fill up in the bogs wouldn’t be reasonable - and sounds really fucking small time. Can you imagine the publicity if the club ran that defence at court?
Sort of stuff I’d expect from the rags.
