If you have a bottle of water and a steward says it should be an empty one, if they then say it has to go in the bin, would it be wrong to say no, we are in an almost drought situation I am not wasting water?
That is what I intend to do as well as pointing out that I am a diabetic and HAVE to carry water with me. (Only type 2 but still diabetic)

It doesn't have to be unopened. The Supporter services tweet said that refills will be available outside the stadium. There would be no point if they then take the bottle off you on the way in.

You are so right … the one time I smuggled in a bottle of water it’s a wonder they didn’t realise because I felt so shifty and guilty. You’d have thought I was a major criminal if you were inside my head that day!, (not recommended mind) :-)

I would think common sense would prevail and supporters allowed to take bottled water into ground. To ban or not allow would present a risk to health in this heat and we will have people having heat stroke/dehydration. I am bringing a bottle of water and will kick up a fucking storm if stopped from going into ground.......also, am seeing adverts on here for 'private water supply experts' wtf !!!

When they don't have a sink with drinkable water it is, you can always fill up your bottle in the bogs if it is drinkable.

I think any court would find that the absence of a sink with drinkable water at a dispense point for alcohol (and other drinks) would be unreasonable, given the resources of the club and the numbers that it (theoretically) serves whilst it is open, especially given the weather this summer.

The clear intent of that legal requirement is public safety and the provision of free water to customers should they need or want it. I expect it arose from the 90s when it was de rigueur for nightclub owners to turn off the running water in the bogs so people on pills would be forced to buy bottled water, which caused one or two fatalities iirc. This is relevant today, given all the warnings around dehydration this summer.

So no, telling people to fill up in the bogs wouldn’t be reasonable - and sounds really fucking small time. Can you imagine the publicity if the club ran that defence at court?

Sort of stuff I’d expect from the rags.
