Watford (A) - Post-Match Thread

I've watched a few Watford games on TV recently and thought they have provided great entertainment. I think we played Watford at a perfect time, just after they played a draining game against Chelsea.

I will be hoping Watford stay up, and Burnley go down simply because they play exciting football.

They do play on the front foot with pace and on their day can turn any team over as the rags found out and Chelsea almost did. Burnley just bore everyone shitless, another club managed by the hopefully last of the anti football dinosaur's.

Meanwhile over to Watford for their insightful review of City.

Think we should give them a bit of slack as they must be quite down hearted at the moment. Not only is Elton John going in to retirement, the last time they beat us Germany was still 2 countries so they couldn't even beat us when we were shit.

Reading the forum is great for playing city bingo you could get a full house on the 1st page. Full of the usual made up rubbish. Funniest was the calling our owners cheats no irony there considering the history of the pozzo family.

There was another great one claiming no more than 60 of our fans were actually from Manchester, the rest being Southern glory hunters. Remarkable how all 60 of us ended up sat in the same couple of rows then, because pretty much everyone around me was a Manc.

Nonesonse all round. Regular home fans have priority with limited ticket access to local supporters club support.

In my experience demand exceeds supply. There is a difference between the official and unofficial supply. Those supporters outside Manchester who have to rely on unofficial sourses continue to be under the radar.

Even though we only scored 3, I think Pep will really like that starting 11s dynamic to make chances. Could have been 6 goals easy.

I agree with this. When in full flow, we’re incredibly good to watch.

But it can feel a bit regimented and rehearsed at times. Especially when the opposition make a mistake. Sometimes it’s crying out for us to exploit it, hit them quickly and punish them, but we often just go backwards and start again.
This is because only one team wants to play football. The only boring thing about our play is the opposition, especially when they have a goal kick. We didn't get accused of being boring when we played Chelsea, Dippers or PSG. I wonder how much of the recent West Ham game was lost to time wasting by Fabianski?

Had a good day out that end up very messy, watching the Blues is still a joy and now we win. Great to here some of the old songs being sung. "if i die on the Kippax Street" got a good airing and the young uns were catching on. A much better song than Citys going with a billion in the bank.

Was sat right next to the Watford fans and to be honest they just look stunned at how good we were. Sterling is out of his slump and playing with confidence again, Bernardo is so understated, but fucking brilliant, Rodri and Gundo bossed the mid. Jack os growing into the side, Fodens cross for the first was ridiculous, it was that good i would have scored from it. It was a stunning performance, top of the league. Nice to see Ric too.

Out in Camden after the game £6.95 a pint, we stopped a few going flat though

We will take some stopping in that mood.

Yeh I agree with your point about the opposition.

But it’s something I’ve noticed recently where if the opposition make a mistake, particularly in midfield, say they slip over and give the ball away, instead of exploiting that man advantage and hitting them quickly on the break, we’ll go backwards and start again.

Pep’s obviously cautious about us piling forward in those situations and leaving ourselves vulnerable to a counter. But it can be a frustrating / boring watch at times.

Think this was one of the major changes made during last season. We're no longer as open to the counter attacks as we were in previous seasons. Yes, we have slowed things down to a degree but have greater control over situations which we were previously vulnerable to. Just a part of the evolution.
