Watford (H) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Yes January is notoriously hard to get deals done. I'm a bit baffled. Do we not have a half decent striker in our reserves we can give a run out to?
No mate, Heskey is probably the best but he's nowhere near ready to be part of the first team. Matty Warhurst is promising but yet again a million miles away from first team action

Manchester City are in the hat for the 4th round, Squad players got some game time and some players got more game time into their legs, City win 2.1 or City win 7.0 the headlines will always be negative in the media
I remember a certain team who were praised for winning most of their games 1-0.

That could never be us, we don’t do the 0 part.

Somewhat disappointing performance. Not entirely surprising with such a youthful lineup and Foden getting back up to speed. I thought Braithwaite did okay but doesn't look ready for senior football, he was beaten too easily by Baah quite a few times, especially for the disallowed goal and gave the ball away needlessly a few times too - he did grow into the game though and looked better as it went on. Walker looked mostly back to his old self until the goal, which was his fault. O'Reilly looked good but had shaky moments. Foden definitely not at full match fitness yet but had some moments. Doku in the first half, and even more so Savinho in the second were constant threats. Grealish had a very good game. Lewis absolutely superb. Great to see Nunes nab his first goal.

Ortega 5
Walker 5
Stones 6
Braithwaite 5.5
Lewis 9
O'Reilly 7
McAtee 6.5
Nunes 7
Grealish 8
Doku 7.5
Foden 6.5

Savinho 8
Wright, Gvardiol N/A
Can’t disagree

He’s outstanding in transition. Loose in many areas of play in contrast but I think your assessment is v harsh.
Fair enough pal. I’ll admit I didn’t want us to sign him. I’d have liked him to prove me wrong but he hasn’t.. He has ability, just seems to lack the will to fight. That’s not good enough for this club

Unfortunately I didn't get to see this match, but well done winning blues!

Mcatee did well to set up the first goal but think he showed his inexperience by not winning a penalty off the keeper instead

Seems strange to make things harder than they need to be though. It’s not like we can’t afford one.
Peps happy to play without one. We play with Haaland because hes a freak and worth adapting for. Any replacement striker probably wouldn’t be good enough and Pep wouldn’t pick them anyway.

I do agree the attitude looks questionable-but he’s clearly v talented.
