Wayne Bridge

I don't get the 'would you take a pay cut in your job?' Wayne Bridge already has enough poke for 10 life times and should be doing what he enjoys. If I was totally loaded I wouldn't be arsed about wages I'd be doing something I like.

Bridge preferred being a reserve for City than say going to play for West Ham or Villa. His prerogative.
Pay cut when you earn 50 to 100 grand a week cant be compared to someone who earns 500 to 1000 a week.

It's not just about a pay cut. It's about someone who would rather waste a significant % of a short career rotting rather than manning up and shipping out.

Don't understand how anyone who loves City can defend someone who thought so little of the shirt. All because he was contractually "entitled" to do fuck all and still pick up a full wage packet.

Agreed 100%, glad Terry banged his bird

How strange late on a Friday night there are two players who couldn't be thought of more differently on the main topic on the Bluemoon forum.

Wayne "fucking" Bridge and Pablo "zabba" Zabbaleta. One a right back, the other a left back, and we all know the joke about the left back.

A bit harsh considering they had a child and it was one of his mates.

We were stupid to let Hughes sign him for what he did on the contract he did, he did a bit of a Mills granted but isnt nearly as much of a **** as he was/is

I get that a lot of people don't rate Bridge, that's fair enough.

But perhaps I'm missing something, because all this lounging around, scratching his arse and lighting farts and fivers … when exactly did all that happen?

We keep getting told that this is the laziest disgrace ever to don Sky Blue, but would anyone care to be a bit more specific?

I mean, they can't be referring to the 2008/09 season. Bridge wasn't here for the first half of the season. Bridge joined us in January 2009 and played 22 games out of a possible 26. So obviously not sat on his arse counting the dosh in the 2008/09 season then, eh?

So, is it the 2009/10 season where people thought he was skiving? In 2009/10 season he missed 13 games with a knee injury and then was out again for a month when he needed a hernia op - but he still played 28 games for us…. just four less than Vinnie Kompany and one less than Micah Richards. Joleon Lescott played 25. Unless people are trying to make a case that Micah and Joleon were piss-taking lazy twats as well that season, the idea that Bridge was sat around pulling his pud and airing his scrotum doesn't really hold much water, really, does it?

Perhaps it was the 2010/11 season? He played 7 times for us before Christmas … but he was out injured a lot. In fact, it was that December when Mancini started briefing against him, complaining publicly that he was always injured. But that January, he then went out on loan to West Ham for the rest of the season. So again, 7 games before the break, missing games mainly through injury … and then he wasn't around to do any lazing or loafing, he was playing for West Ham. To quote one of the lads on here, he did exactly what was demanded … manned up and shipped out. But then West Ham were relegated at the end of that season, so he had to rejoin us.

So, really, it has to be the 2011/12 season that pissed people off? It certainly pissed off Roberto.

That summer of 2011, the papers were full of stories that Liverpool were going to come in for Bridge. In the end, he rejected offers from Celtic and a late bid from Fenerbahce (I thought it was Russia, but no, I checked and it was Turkey.) Not unreasonable … blow out Glasgow and Turkey and gamble on a move 30 miles up the road to a major Premier League club? But it backfired, because Liverpool didn't bid and the window closed. Mancini stuck him training with the kids and started briefing against him in the press again. Humiliated in public big time.

Bridge made one appearance between August and December but then when the window re-opened, he fucked off to Sunderland … and that's the last we ever saw of him!

He wasn't sat around lighting farts and making paper airplanes out of tenners …. he was playing for Sunderland for all of the second half of the 2011/12 season. (And it's worth pointing out that Ned Onouha was in exactly the same boat at exactly the same time. Both players came back from loans in the summer of 2011, both were out of favour and both then left in the January window. Ned made two appearances in that period, Bridge made one ... but it's Ned the loyal servant and Bridge the lazy tosser, is it? That doesn't make any sense.

And like I say, that's the last we ever saw of him. People on here can't possibly be pissed off at him for the 2012/13 season, can they? Was he scratching his bollocks while lounging on a bed of fifty pound notes all year? Er, no … he wasn't even bloody well here, was he? He spent the entire season on loan at Brighton, and actually got voted onto the Championship team of the season.

And then he signed for Reading.

So, as far as I can see, the only possible period anyone can have a pop at him for is a few weeks at the start of the 2011/12 season. And even then, it's a bit harsh … I wouldn't choose to live in Glasgow or Turkey either and certainly not for less dosh.

The funny thing is, I don't particularly rate him either … but I think this is a City player who is getting the shitty end of the stick from some City fans, based on urban myth and dodgy memory.

Wayne Bridge was not the worst fullback I have seen play, for Manchester City fc.In my book that would go to Micheal Fronzeck.A proper pile of sh**.

you're only jealous, hardly his fault Mancini said he had no future there, I'd have sat out my contract too.
No way was he even close to our worst player - Christian Negouai has that award.
