Wayne Rooney - how good or bad, bias aside?

It's hard for me to have a view of him which isn't biased by disliking him and wanting him to fail. What do you personally think, is he genuinely a 'top 5 in the world striker' - or just a 'solid premier league player', someone not too far removed in terms of ability from a Darren Bent or Jermain Defoe, who has been hyped up to be world class simply because he's both English and plays for the team with the biggest 'fanbase' (and therefore biggest media-consuming group) in the country?

Still undecided if he should start tomorrow, Fabio ?

Blue tinted specs off here!

He is a good player with pace power and a good finish.

He has been massively overhyped because he plays for the scum and his attitude has made him fit in perfectly with that lot over there.

Never ever done it for england on the big stage and never will.

Mario Balotelli will be a miles better player than rooney is.

Rooney gets spoonfed chance after chance by valencia and nani etc... so its not hard to score as many as he does
