We are NOT Man City..

IBH's point, I think, is not how we refer to our beloved, but how the club refers to itself (wonder if he accepts my acronym, probably not…)
By God, but it's quiet around here. Have we bought Pogba yet? Kroos? Suarez? Maradona? Puskas?

Actually, that used to wind me well and truly up when I would hear French commentators regularly refer to them that way right through the nineties and noughties. Now, to my amusement, several times last year I heard them do it with us!! Journalists are just fucking lazy, and know-nothings. Over and over again, I've patiently explained to French people over the years that nobody, absolutely nobody in the UK (and certainly not in Manchester itself) knows of any football club called "Manchester". Or indeed "Bristol". Or indeed "Sheffield". I've thought about why people in the rest of the world should be so lazy about this, and I think it comes partly down to this. The English Premier League (and the lower divisions) is one of the very few in the world where you have two major clubs in one town, that can only be distinguished by the second part of the name. No such thing in any other European league that I can think of, with the exception of Spain (Atletico and Real) and Italy (A.C. and Inter). And none that I know of in South America (even in Buenos Aires it's Boca Juniors and River Plate).

Belgrade, Moscow and Prague? The English can be lazy too, I often hear Dundee United referred to as just 'Dundee', which I imagine grates with the blue half of that city. However, that example probably fails on your 'two major clubs' caveat.

I don't like him, but Michael Mackintyre was right when he said "Man City" sounds like a gay nightclub.

Could there be an importance how 'Man City' is pronounced?

'Maen Ciddy' maybe sounds like a nightclub.
Northern English would be different to rest of the world, right?
Maybe you should brand the Mancunian pronunciation worldwide.

Bottom line you should be open minded and confident becoming a worldwide brand.
Most important you know who you are and where your come from.

When talking with mates we use City. On the web, you do that you'll get all kinds of City's.

mancity is a suitable short identifier for Manchester City online. That's all there is to this.

In time, because of the influence of online activities I expect fans will start calling City, Mancity. There's nothing sinister in that, It's just a change in habits as technology changes how we relate and interact to stuff

We were known as Man City a long time before the tinterweb

27 pages christ, i'll a assume a few upset posts in here then. I can't say i have given the "issue" much thought tbh, it feels normal to call us Man City.
Gay clubs have witty names if a gay club was called man city it would be the no frills of gay clubs.

I had no idea there was any opinion on this either way, defo not 30 pages of it hehe.

Just visited the new site from a link from my e-mail, my chin dropped in astonishment as I was redirected to man city.com! We are NOT man city and as for .com-sheesh! Came here to blue moon to vent my anger, not surprised to see this thread at the top. Come on City, change the name.

Man City doesn't really bother me but I can sort of see why some don't like it. But does anybody really give a toss whether it's .com or .co.uk. that's unbelievable.

it depends if your happy to go with United Kingdom as you country or would rather have an option of English
I don't even know what that means, but I'm backing off now, if Mrs Parrot finds out I'm spending my time arguing over .com / .co.uk, she'll quite rightly leave me and take my children away.
