We are not mentally weak

Our sublime Dave when he returns will knit our collective into a cohesive, drilled and organised troupe once again. That's how good he is, and boy have we missed him. Welcome back Silva our maestro.

When Kompany, Hart, Mangala , Clichy, Bony and Delph return it should help us as well.

How anyone can direct this accusation at a team that that has won 2 of the closest titles in the history of association football is unreal. That the accusation is coming from our own fans is all the more annoying. Stop listening to the media propaganda and get behind your team .

It is when we go behind in games most of the time. 3 times this season and Saturday was the latest example.

I agree we're not a mentally weak team in global terms. Plenty of evidence for us having grit over the season. But this weekend, officials and injuries aside, there was something wrong with the players on the pitch. I don't think we can blame lack of pure footballing skills on the pitch can we? Lack of leadership maybe, perhaps call it a time-limited mental wobble in several players particularly after half time. These are psychological things that were poor - on the day - aren't they. They're hard to quantify from the stands and TV. Our thinking processes and grit need keeping fit just like other aspects of the game. Weekly. I'm sure our psychology (including leadership) will return to fitness soon.

We're one of the mentally toughest sides around, our weakness is the same as it's been for a few seasons
the way we set up for certain matches.
When we bought Strerling and De Bruyne in the summer I thought bingo this will address our problem
and allow us to sit a little deeper in tricky matches especially in Europe and some domestic ones and
utilise the pace of these two.
Unfortunately looks like we bought them just cos they were available and not for tactical reasons.
At the lane we were one up and the game screamed for us to sit back and pick them off cos Spurs
will always try to press at home.Instead we pushed on and on a few occasions had everyone bar Hart
in their half if was fucking lunacy.
Until we learn that you don't need to try and dominate the opposition for 90 mins we will keep having
these lapses especially against the stronger organised sides.

Agree to a certain extent - But it was Cabalerro in goal, and that was half the problem, whether through lack of game time or not enough talking at the back. - This time I can understand the unfamiliarity as its injury related changes, as opposed to Constant Rotation as it was last season. That said, we should have performed better!

Would you agree with the offside equaliser and the time it was scored affecting our performance at the start of the second half?

There's a debate to be had but unfortunately the OP has to make into a "big Blue" contest with his indignancy.

"Mentally weak" - sportsmen at this level aren't mentally weak but they are subject to lapses and occasional deficiencies in thinking at crucial times, that's why sports psychologists are payed the big bucks - even by the apparently "mentally strong".

Arsenal's squad are mentally weak. This is because of their inability to convert the talent in their squad into a sustained title challenge; moreover, the reason for this perpetual underachievement is that particular club's record in the last decade against those clubs around them in the league. It is an appalling record. Quite simply, they bottle it in the big games.

To describe our players in such terms is more than a little absurd.
Arsenal don't put up sustained title challenges because Wenger refuses to buy a top class defensive midfielder and a top class striker. Vidal was there to be bought this Summer and so was Edin and Lacazette if the right money came along and he bought in nobody and again they will not put up a proper challenge for the title this season because of it.

We do have excellent defensive mids and striker, but we never look comfortable having a lead in the title race and we play like we don't belong in the CL, like we're just some back door club who are inferior to the teams we play.

How do you explain their appalling record against other top four sides in recent years?
