Still think we will qualify, beat CSKA at home leaves us on 5, you'd expect Bayern to beat Roma which would leave them on 4

Roma 'should' beat CSKA which will put them on 7, anything we get from Bayern is a bonus but if we get beat it will mean having to win in Rome

Basically we have to beat CSKA and win in Rome
Even if we draw in Rome by the time Bayern come here they will be cert top of the group and playing a second string which we should beat and go through.

You mean like the second string that we faced in Munich last month, George :)

Hoddle hit the nail on the head to sum up our woeful champions league form and its that we are not pressing the ball high up the field enough and teams are getting to much time to play through our outnumbered midfield. There is no urgency to win the ball back quick enough when we lose it and therefore we are getting punished when opponents at this level have space on the ball..... See there first goal as an example. With the power and pace of Vinny and Mangala they should be pushing another 10/15 yards up the pitch so the gap between the defence and midfield is much shorter and there is less space to close down and stops our midfield getting fucked chasing big areas of the pitch. Still think we can make it out of this group but can't see much further than last 16 as our style of play in this competition just won't trouble the top teams

chances are by November 5th we will be one point clear of Roma with a far better goal average, then its down to the last two games, i think Roma may come unstuck at CSKA then if we were to pick up 3 points on the same night we are through, failing this we might have to win in Rome, its very much on, we have just made it a little harder with that draw yesterday

I don't think so i heard the same thing every time and now it just add more pressure. Should have beaten roma at home but thats another story

Who do the bookies have on shorter odds to go through, us or Roma?

Looking at oddschecker it is pretty much even between the 2 of us. Some sites have us as marginal favourites and others Roma.

Having watched Bayern last night - we can take them out of the equation. We play Roma away last game of this group.
Roma will lose to Bayern and beat CSKA and have 7 points. City will beat CSKA and have 5 points. If we manage a draw against Bayern at home we will have 6 points. So going into the last match - before KO - Roma on 7 points and City on 6points.
Roma only have to win/draw with us and they go through. Simples!!
OMG we will be Thurs/Sunday games. B*ll*cks.............

It's going down to the wire - the last game in Rome will decide whether City or Roma progress.

The only way this can be avoided is if one team is at least 4 points ahead of the other by then, and if you look at the remaining fixtures, that is very unlikely unless there is a shock result (ie: Roma win at Bayern, and/or we cock-up at home to CSKA).

or roma lose both games against bayern and cska

so by then the maximum they could pick is 7

Chances of Moscow claims 2nd place?

assuming we beat them, lose to Munich and draw with Roma, puts us on 6 points

Roma, get beat of Munich and Moscow away and draw with us at home, puts them on 5 points

Moscow get beat of us, beat Roma at home, then Munich could go easy on them and eliminate both us and Roma putting Moscow on 7 points!

going to be interesting!
