We fight till the end

Far too early for one of these "we can do it threads" where everyone says it's not possible but then like a good Rocky movie we comeback and win it in the end. Wait until about April when posters are ready to throw themselves in front of trains.

True. I think I started in this thread and the meltdown thread putting across the same idea, that it's only January, wait until the business end of things and don't get hung up by the odd set back results-wise.
The character is definitely there for the fight, in this team, I believe.

I know we made some remarkable comebacks in both of title winning seasons and even this year so it's hard to say it's over with this strange team but I'm afraid if we, God forbid, lose at Stamford Bridge, it might be game over this time.

8 points and compared run ins just wouldn't do us much favour to do it again.

I don't expect the injury situation to change. Chelsea seem always to have less walking wounded. But the fatigue could very likely be a factor. The one period they had a bunch of challenging games was over Xmas, and they looked progressively worse and worse as time went on.

Once the CL re-starts there will be no more Wed eve strolls against the likes of Sporting Lisbon. It will be more intense by the week.

Two things on my immediate wish list though:
- We must get at least a draw at the Bridge to stay within reasonable distance

- Liverpool to knock Chelsea out of the Capital One Cup. If they were to win that, they would get the same kind of energy boost we did last year. We want Mourinho to keep sweating out of fear that his erstwhile invincibles could actually end up trophyless for the second season in a row.

Great post this. I'm hoping they have a very difficult 2nd leg and get run ragged by Liverpool again, all the way to penalties. The Liverpool and Spurs game showed that if you play a high pressing, high tempo passing game with good movement, they are capable of falling to pieces. Matic, Terry and Cahill couldn't live with the movement and quick passing of Sterling and Coutinho, imagine how hard they'll find it living with Silva and Aguero!

People are being a bit knee jerk after the Arsenal game. Two weeks ago everyone thought we'd go on to win the league comfortably. Now after two dodgy results, we're finished? I don't think so. There's absolutely no chance Chelsea will win every game until the end of the season. I think the record is 14 games on the spin, well there's 16 games left, they'll definitely drop points.

I agree that our first choice 11 is the best in the league, no doubt in my mind. The problem is, they're not all available often enough. Yaya being away is a huge loss for us. Especially as his replacement is the woeful Fernando. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Ivory Coast have an early exit and he's back in time for the Bridge because with him, Silva and Aguero fit, I just can't see us not beating them. Without him I can't really see us winning, it's that big a difference.

We managed to find a way to win without a striker, but so far we're struggling to find a way to win without Yaya. I guess the Roma game is the template, but again without Nasri as well, it's difficult.

We have witnessed some classic 'written off' scenarios recently. 2012 with only 6 games left, Liverpool wrapping up the league a couple of weeks before the end of last season, out of the champions league this season........It's not always going to turn out right but I'll wait until June before reflecting on this season. In the meantime I'll carry on supporting and encouraging with the belief that we are going to have more good times than bad over the next few years at least. Maybe we could get behind the team more instead of giving up and sitting back quietly letting it happen. I tried to get the City war-cry going again yesterday but once again it was pointless........We need to at least try to roar the boys on but singing 'Pablo Zabaletta' and 'United ran away' when we're behind isn't going to have much effect I'm afraid
Perhaps you need to take a megaphone into the ground with you - it might wake some of the quiet ones up and get them joining in with you.

Stop...everybody stop. We'll all only jinx it on ourselves, as we don't really believe we are out yet and are just trying to jinx them which will lead to a ricochet double jinx back to ourselves....just stop STOP!!!!
Fuck now I'm jinxing it by making ye aware ye are jinxing it.....
Jinx is a funny word if you type it or say it enough isn't it

Spot on both of you. Yaya is definitely a big miss and Pellegrini will have to decide how he covers that. I think we need to play Milner, Navas, Fernando and Fernandinho and either Dzeko and Aguero or Jovetic and Aguero and tell them to get stuck in. We just need to press them. This game will be won on passion and mentality more than skill in my opinion. We've managed to create lots of chances against them before and lose so it's about time we beat them.

In relation to the title of the thread - it would be nice to fight from the start next season. What a lovely change it would be to set the pace and stay in front from the start!!! What is good for us moving forward is that Chelsea will have to replace Terry at some stage or deal with him being unable to play every game as he does now. That will unsettle them and should lead to poor results. As for this season. Let's get stuck into them - or hope Ivory Coast get knocked out and get Yaya and Bony straight on a plane on the Wednesday night to London and ready for the game!

I believe you will get your wish in the not too distant future. One way or another with or without FFP the shackles will be off. We have been hurt short-term by what is going on. Maybe we missed out on a few players we might have acquired, but so what. I agree with all of the above. We can't win it every year and maybe this is a year that we miss out, but I'm still not convinced that's so. If we do miss out, then there is no doubt we have been hampered by what I regard to be purely stalling tactics by the Cartel interests in England. They can't stall us forever and the longer they use that as their tactic the further they will fall behind in the grand scheme of the financial game. As someone in the FFP thread pointed out. We are miles down the road with the map of the future. Those that are wise will follow our business plan as they can grasp it. We hold the template.
I don't think United are stupid enough not to realise this (nor Arsenal for that matter). Hence, they are spending while we're hamstrung. It's a way of slowing our progress while they think of how they are going to progress in the future. They can't dither forever. FFP may try to evolve to still keep us down but ultimately, I believe our business plan has shown that there is too much money to be made. You only need to convince a few, not everyone in the cartel.
Loosen a few bricks and the wall will fall.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but if you look at the lineups that Chelsea have put out this season there hasn't been a great deal of rotation.

I'm hoping burnout will hit them around about the 31st of January...

That is legit point, they haven't rotated too much.
