we need a new stadium...

So little Spurs can sell out their ickle stadium. Big deal. They'll be suggesting that they can match Arsenal for support next!

Actually EssexYid, Maine Road held only just over 31,000 after the Kippax changes were completed in 1995. It was only for the last few seasons that Maine Road's capacity was around 35,000.

In fairness, Maine Road's capacity suffered more than nmost grounds from seating changes and poor planning, and it is for those reasons more than any other that it's capacity was so small in the 1990s, particularly after being made completely all-seater.

And in all honesty, would Spurs have had an average 28,000 in the third tier, on top of four or five seasons of abject performances?? Put another way, would you still have turned out in droves for, let's say, a local derby against Leyton Orient, or Millwall? Because for our excursion in the lower divisions, a local derby meant the likes of Macclesfield and Wigan.

The short answer is no, by the way.

As Spurs are the 3rd best supported club in England regarding "all time average attendances" and One of only Four clubs with over 1 million fans officially registered to their club, I would suggest that you don't have a clue about what our attendances would or wouldn't be if we were ever unfortunate to be as shit as Manchester City were for many years, so your "The short answer is no, by the way" jibe is totally irrelevant isn't it.

In 2006 almost 20,000 fans actually applied for new season tickets, but had to be turned down as they were SOLD OUT, now what part do you lot find so hard to grasp LOL.

What part do I find hard to grasp? Nothing.

I understand that Spurs are a very, very well-supported club. I understand that the limited capacity of White Hart Lane (36,000) can give the false impression that Spurs are not as well-supported as say, their North London rivals, just as Highbury might've done when comparing the support of Arsenal and our red neighbours.

But what you don't seem to grasp is that after Maine Road was turned completely all-seater, average attendances were pretty close to or near full capacity. And even if they were a measly 4,000 below capacity at 26,000 (as they were in 95-97) then it's hardly surprising given those years were so wildly unsuccessful.

'I would suggest that you don't have a clue about what our attendances would or wouldn't be if we were ever unfortunate to be as shit as Manchester City were for many years'

Oh, but this is very, very relevant. You say that average attendances at Maine Road were a few thousand below capacity (fact: never lower than between 4-5000 below post-all-seater) in a number of seasons, if offer you a reason why. So in the scheme of you arguing that our attendances have been poor over a set period, my ponderance over the potential size (or lack thereof) of Spurs crowds, were they to suffer a similarly poor run, is very much relevant.

As I have stated, I have doubts as to the size and potential size of Spurs crowds and support; I do not seek to make any comparisons between the current respective support of Spurs or Manchester City. I only query the fact that you seek to belittle my club for no apparent reason. Can you tell me why you seek out our mesage board to do so?

E.Y. - record league attendance and record F.A cup attendance (albeit the rags) - which ground sir ?

Is there a racist slant with your dig at our owners - do your owners think we are run by muslim fundamentalists totaly at odds with the zionist cause? mmm.... makes me think...

If you seriously expect us to believe that it´s the average "joe" Spuds fan who is generating such revenues then I recommend reading Aesops Fables mate - there is something VERY fookin dodgy about your clubs finances and I´m not just on about Twitchy either! Or maybe you just have more millionaire supporters than every other club. We are still a predominantly working class community based club who´ve just got lucky and fookin deservedly so!!

I can't really be bothered reading back, but has anyone pointed out to the Spurs troll that our stadium is siginficantly bigger than theirs?

The 'but we sell out more often than you (or did)' argument really holds no water. Shut one of the ends of our ground, or the top tier, those games that didn't sell out all would have. Even with waiting-lists there's no guarantee WHL would be full were it to hold an extra 11,000.

Bottom line is it's a smalltime argument. What next, who's got the bigger floodlights?
