agreed. the next time we struggle against a packed defence and we need an injection of pace and 'something different' we'll be fucked. thats why he shouldn't leave in January

yeah, just like we were fucked in all those games he missed for "virus" this season.

Re: 'We needed Mario today - would have given us that spark'

But surely thats the whole point.
We have been saying that loyally for a large amount of the past two seasons and generally he hasnt delivered.
We have asked him to deliver the spark and it hasnt happened.
We hanker for those moments when he shows the skills that we all know he has but we can count them on one hand.
I keep reading in his favour about the goals at OT and the crucial goal against Spurs and the penalties but that doesnt account for all the games we have had to do without because he hasnt shown the right attitude.
I would love to see the precentage counts showing whether blues want him to stay or go. I suspect its largely in favour of the "thanks for the memories Mario" brigade and quite right.
In truth, the whole club is better moving on and I certainly wont be saying what if.

Mario playing against Stoke!!! He would get a RED for retaliation inside 15 minutes.
Apart from when he played 90 minutes against them in September and won Man of the Match in the FA Cup Final against them?

Re: 'We needed Mario today - would have given us that spark'

Whether you love him or hate him or are some where in the middle, if dzeko, tevez or aguero get injured between now and may then we'll have no way of changing throngs during a game or leavin out the off form one, or just having competition for places!
We need a replacement BEFORE he is sold. Unless we're 100% that Guidetti is ready (which I'm guessing we are not!).

Re: 'We needed Mario today - would have given us that spark'

So far, when has this actually happened?

It's happened twice this season that he's come off the bench and helped change the game - Swansea at home, Ajax at home.

Re: 'We needed Mario today - would have given us that spark'

Depends who we replace him with. If it's a Benteke or Odemwingie, Mario will become a better player with every game his replacement plays. If it's a Cavani or Falcoa, Mario will barely warrant a mention.

Re: 'We needed Mario today - would have given us that spark'

It won't get said, as his replacement will hopefully have put his performances of note, (which continue to get mentioned individually as some kind of clutch at straws), will have been eclipsed, bettered and more importantly, maintained on a consistent basis.

FFS How many fucking Mario threads do we need ?

Only this, the problem is we have so many attention seekers that think their opinion is so much more important than anyone else’s, it’s quite sad really
