Upson and Toure IS a top 6 pairing. If you'd have said we wont get top 4, you'd have probably had an argument. But then again, it would have been difficult to get top 4 even if we'd have got Terry. I fail to see why you don't think we'd get top 6 with those 2. I think we'd get top 6 even if we stick with Dunne at the back, so if we add Toure and Upson, that will only help us further... surely?

Kompany and Lescott is a top 6 pairing, Kompany/Lescott/B.Alves is a top 4 pairing. Komps won't be ready for the start of the season, so we need another top CB, we should be aiming so much higher than Upson and Toure, a midtable club's best defender and a top 4's 4th choice CB isn't good enough for a club trying to finish in the top 4.

4th choice centre back? Stop it please. Toure has featured in 30 leauge games in all but one season for Arsenal and most of them have been as a starter. He's a top defender and certainly good enough for the top four as he's shown while he's been at Arsenal

We were 3rd top scorers last season, the problem has always been defence and everybody knows that. Imagine if our attack wasn't so good last season, we could have come in the bottom half. Now for some reason, if our attack doesn't gel and/or performs to the same standard as last season, our defence is going to need to be a hell of a lot better. If we played Dunne and Onuoha at CB we'd finish 7-10th again, if we play Upson and Toure, I don't think there would be much improvement. Toure isn't much better than Onuoha if at all, and Upson isn't much better if at all than Dunne.

I am a very optimistic fan, people have laughed at my optimism in the past, but these signings don't fill me wth confidence. I know too much about these players to be happy with their arrival, it's just more proof that Hughes is scared to leave his comfort zone and isn't doing what's right for the club.

i agree we will finish top6.....but im going for 4th which is indeed in the top6.

lescot and toure will be very very good additions to our squad and we will be scoring more goals than last season and wont let as many in this season so therefor my prediction is top4.

get a grip FFS the season aint started yet before moaners are out in force.

Nope, I know too much. Toure was once a great defender, now he's finished. He doesn't even have the pace anymore, it's like watching an older version of Richards. Clueless player, clueless signing.

I want this stickied so I can bring it back up in 6 months time and laugh at how stupid you all sound when you're slating him for costing us yet more points.
