Its such a shame that when we are starting to go places the best cup run in a long long time there is still people on here who will never be happy, no matter what we acheive, such pessimism. I think you want us to fail just so that you can smirk and say i told you so.
Its not the best team weve ever had on the pitch,or the best manager weve ever had, but its a team that has got us to the last 8, what more do you want.?
top 10 finish in the prem and who knows how much further we will get in uefa. lets see who we buy in the summer and then judge MH against himself next season.

Good post!

This board continues to descend to new levels of negativity by the week! The i want it and i want it now attitude amongst some is laughable at best. We even have certain individuals sat waiting to throw anti Hughes shite out before the game has finished and some wishing for the opposition to win in the hope that the manager they don't like will be sacked.

The very word SUPPORTER seems to have been lost on some and it's very very sad indeed. We went down to the bottom half of div 2 and didn't whinge this much! Whilst constructive criticism is and will always be healthy, out and out moaning and doom mongering will only ever hinder and not help the whole ethos around the club and the way we are portrayed.

I am sorry but this is just complete rubbish.

I am a supporter and I will be a supporter until I die - I can't help it. I go to all the matches I can with work and the 400 mile drive permitting and I never boo anyone and never will.

But to say I can't even criticise anything or suggest ways for improvement is plainly ridiculous. I want our team to be the best in the world. I want to us to win things and to keep winning. I want to see us win the PL and the CL.

And in all honesty, I am 100% convinced we have a manager who will NEVER take us there.

What am I honestly supposed to say? Nothing?

I'm afraid it seems that way :-(

Good post by the way.

What would it take for the Hughes out fans to be changed to hughes in? ie league position/progression in cup or is it hughes out indefinatley?

For me:

1. Inspire some confidence in the team re away performances

2. Get Elano and Robinho playing at their best

3. Make some decent substitutions

4. See us defending corners better and (god help me) scoring from a corner

5. See us play 2 up top occassionally!

You note, there's no mention of results in the above.

I agree with Dr Bouloskis sentiments. If spending a large amount of money was the criteria for success then Spurs and Newcastles would have been challenging in the past.

O'Neil is into his third season and it would appear will still not get his team into the top 4. Yes some managers have done well short term but Redknapp has failed in all the cups and Allydyces team are still in the bottom 3. As for Zola he's done an excellent job so far but Pearce did an excellent job to start off with.

Last night wasn't impressive and Hughes is not perfect but as Dr Bouloskis said some manager has to be given time because whoever is in charge success will not come overnight.

Worst managerial display I have ever seen, regardless of the result who in their right mind puts out a team to defend for 90 minutes against a side you can comfortably destroy, talk about fcuking negative.

Sorry folks have to blame useless Hughes for this one what a numpty.

come on we won thats the main thing doest matter how we won we still beat them lets be happy were in the quarter finals and lets sell out both legs and look forward!!!!

What a cop out answer!!

When one papers over the cracks, are the cracks still there unaddressed or have they magically disappeared cos they've been papered over??
Exactly mate, papering over the cracks, all is forgiven because we managed to progress after winning on the lottery of a penalty shoot out, posters choosing to ignore the glaring inadequacies within our camp, our seemingly uncanny ability to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory, time and time again this season we have seen it, going right back to games like Liverpool where we were unable to hang on too a 2-0 lead because our manager did not know what to do,

Don’t get me wrong I am as happy as the next man we have qualified, but as you rightly point out the problems have not gone away there still there, I reckon Hughes shortcomings will be our downfall eventually.

We have seen some shit performances this season, last nights was one of them, make no mistake that was piss poor against a very poor side.

Don't get me wrong there has been decisions made by Hughes this season that have baffled me but overall I feel progress is being made.
The Hughes out mob won't change. Even if we won the treble they would find something to whine and moan about, and subsequently, to blame Hughes for. And some of us still wonder why the vermin call us bitters.

It's not as black and white as this. I'm a member of the Hughes Out mob but for different reasons than most. On the whole the performance this season hasn't been great but it is certainly not disastrous, as a young manager I do believe he shows a lot of promise and potential. My biggest concern is his current ability (or lack thereof) to get the best out of key players or, more importantly, getting them to want to play for him. He doesn't have the marquee reputation that invokes fear into the more arrogant players, the prima donnas.

What can Hughes do to move me into the Hughes In camp?

The UEFA Cup would go a long way, but for me, even more important than that, he needs to retain the services of Robinho this summer, get him buzzing again and successfully lure additional players of similar calibre and reputation.

I don't think he can, but I hope I'm wrong.

All is not forgiven because we won on penalties but Hughes is just over half way into his first season with us. Mouriniho who some may think will have us battling for top honours straight away went to Inter because they thought he would win the European Cup.

He hasn't because sometimes you have to build something.

Yes a team has to be built, but Hughes will never be able to do that because he is clueless on which players can play together, or what are their best positions, or a basic shape for a team or tactic`s that suit that shape.

He can never adapt tactics to who we play from one game to the next, never mind change things about during a game, his selection of subs fails to allow for needing to change anything but like for like, and his reading of a game is so poor he can not see where and when things are not working.

Time wont change facts, he`s no good now and never will be, not because he`s an ex rag, but because he`s clueless
