We won't make fourth

Has anyone got a copy of the league table when Hughes was sacked? I'd be interested to see something.

Not on me but I'm pretty sure we weren't 2 points off 4th with a game in hand...

We were 6 points of 4th with a game in hand, probably upset Masterwig as we all know he loved Hughes and doesn't like Mancini

So 4 points better off. Excellent.

Yeah we have gained on Villa and Spurs but lost slightly on Liverpool since then. That is better than I thought actually, for some reason I thought Villa had been gaining on us.

We really need to win at Fulham to keep the pressure on. There is always the chance we could slip up in a home game so we can't be assuming we'll get maximum points at home. I think we need to win two away games before the end of the season to have a chance at 4th.

we will not make it. With 50% goals now from set pieces this rules us out and I am afraid it will be Given's inability to deal with corners long throws and curling free kicks ino the box which will be our downfall.

Not upset me at all. Good to see our position improving. Let's hope that at the end of the season we are all looking back saying what a good job Mancini has done even if I can't fathom what he is thinking half the time and disagree with his selections and tactics.

My money's on us - keep the faith!

Spurs have to come to us and also have to play the top 3 in consecutive games, which I suspect will be their downfall. Still in the cup as well, which will be a distraction.

Liverpool are poor away from home and not too convincing at Anfield. They'll drop plenty more points, starting at the swamp on Sunday.

Villa are a strong side, with one of the players of the season in Milner. They're unbeaten this year so doing well results wise, without outplaying anyone. They too have to come to us and are also still in the cup.

If we maintain our home form, particularly against Spurs and Villa, 4th will be ours I tell ya, without needing too much away from home.

If we weren't able to "do the business" then we wouldn't be where we are with a great chance of getting fourth and if Spurs were so much able to beat those they needed to they wouldn't have lost at home to Stoke and Wolves. Villa and Liverpool have also dropped silly points, maybe because other teams don't read the script and realise that they are supposed to lose to the top four hopefuls.

It's in our hands, all of us are going to drop more points unexpectedly before the end of the season but we are going to drop the least and finish fourth.

It's amazing we are still in with a shout!
How brilliant has this season been, loving every frustrating minute of it

The Fulham game could be key. We need to play with the same intensity and tempo that we managed in the second half against Sunderland, but this time for the full game. If we do that, I'm confident we'll pick up three points. If we play that way and still fail to win, at least we'll all be able to say that we're fighting for Fourth and move on. If we start with the same intensity and tempo that we started with against Sunderland I fear the worse, and a defeat to Fulham would be a big blow. In short, if we want to finish Fourth, it's time for the players to fight for it.

Spuds have to play Manure, Chelsea, Arsenal in April - games they WILL lose, then they have to play us @ home.
Liverpool are away at Manure next, can't see them getting points there, and will slip up elsewhere as they have all season.
Villa have Chelsea to play twice yet as well as ourselves @ home.

We've just taken 4 out of 6 points away from home (inc. Chelsea) and are unbeaten @ home.
Why would we have no chance of 4th??????? It's in OUR hands this season....c'mon!!!!!! :D

It's at times like these with villa and spurs breathing down our necks that the players AND the fans need to grow a big fucking brass pair and get stuck in,NO half measures ! all out for forth place ! failure is NOT an option ! COME ON CITY ! and COME ON EVERY ONE OF US SUPPORTERS !

villa only have chelsea once in the league. Apart from that game I predict villa to win every other. Spuds and dippers will drop points along the way, same as ourselves - can't see that happening to villa though.

Of course we will make 4th. We just need to win 7 our of our final 10 games and with 6 of those at home with Burnely away we should do it.

I predict we will get it in the second to last game of the season against Villa at home on 1st May.

Why so many threads saying we won't make fourth? The Dunne thread, the Bridge thread, the Liverpool thread. Lots of negativity about our chances. Despite all the adversity and unusual circumstances this season (Bridge/Terry, Adebayor, Tevez) I'm pretty confident we'll make it but too many are getting their excuses in already and settling for the Europa league next season.
when i saw the thread title i was getting ready to have a go at you there mate. i completely agree. very defeatist attitude to think we wont get it. game in hand and playing our rivals at home. we have a very good chance. and no i wont be happy with shite europa league.

I Like your optimism IP but think it will go down to the last game. Can see Villa piling on the pressure with 2 relatively easy games coming up. We need at least 4 points from the City Spuds and City Villa games.
