Hardly unusual as Darwin is only 12deg South of the Equator.

34deg temp difference is unusual. Darwin usually a bit cooler in winter (July) and Hobart is a bit warmer in July (winter range from 6 to 12deg usually)

I've spent a good few Winters here and it usually averages around zero but can drop to well below that at times. Tends to stay fairly dry though.

The weather is fairly consistent and that suits me fine. I tend to prefer long hot Summers and cold but reasonably dry Winters to be honest.

I lived in Thailand for many years and while I enjoyed the heat, after a while I missed the seasons. Problem with the UK's weather (for me at least) is consistency in that you can almost get all 4 seasons in one day!
