A decent PL striker is all he'll be - he's 22 in a few months so not a kid any longer, by that age Aguero, Rooney, Balo, Messi, Ronaldo were identified as potential world class talents - he may be a late developer but he is leaving it late........

Watching him he looks more like the sort of striker that should be playing at West Brom, Sunderland, Villa - he's not a patch on Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, Van Horseface, Cole etc which is the sort of strikers you associate with the rags.

Welbeck sat on the bench isn't the sort of player to raise fear in another team if they sub him on.

Well he is the same age or slightly younger than Henry when he went to Arsenal who at that stage was still promising rather than special.

No one knows how he will turn out personally I see him as somewhat above the Defoe, Crouch, Bent striker that England have had since Owen passed his brief peak. Of the former United players you mention I think he may well turn out to be on a par with Cole. Think he will be a high quality premier/International striker, slightly below the very best but significantly above the run of the mill. Only time will tell though.

he's not the best, but he's certainly not the worst.

good pace, good work rate, decent passing and finishing

On the playground is where he spent most of his days...

Great goal last night but not enough of anything else. He might develop into a top player, but he's not doing it yet.

He will never be a world class striker as long as he has a hoe in his arse. A decent premier league strike and that's it.

It is a terrible state of affairs that him and Carroll are up front in an international tournament!!

By the way, I thought Gerrard looked past it last night

if hes apparantley one of the best then england is fucked!! welbeck is absolutely awful!

Above average striker who's taking his chance. We've seen a lot of these strikers come and go for england. Kevin Davies, Andy Johnson, crouch etc.

Seems a likeable chap with a smile on his face. Doesn't seem arrogant but can see fans turning on him for not being a shearer.

He's definitely improved this season and after Rooney is arguably one of the better of a bad bunch for England
