I don't care who he is or where we got him from, he plays for us now so get behind him and the rest of the lads, that's what we are there for.

I'm so confused by the current rebuild. Unlike a lot of people here I think we are signing great players who could really do something, but they don't seem like Pep players at all. Either Pep really is reinventing himself and sticking around for longer or he's leaving next summer. Interesting times regardless, let's hope it gels in time for the latter stages of the CL if the league looks unlikely.
That shows maturity from Pep and the City board .
They are buying the best possible players, and will aim to blend them using a style that fits them.

Pep didn't get "Pep players" at Barca to play in that distanctive style. He developed his style based on the players he had. The core Barca and Bayern players were already there, he didn't buy an entire team of "Pep players".

how the fuck has signing one of the best keepers in the world caused doubt, Donnarumma is up in the top 5 keepers in the world
Because, irrefutably, he's not as good as Ederson is with his feet. He's an incredible shot-stopper, but we'll have to adapt our game to suit his abilities. Over the last year, we haven't looked comfortable playing a more industrial style; that's where the doubt comes from.

Not my preferred choice for GK but that's in the past now. Let's go Big Don! Hope he does great things in a city shirt.

Well his Uncle was associated with the mafia.

Could be a skeleton or two buried in lime somewhere in the world!

P.s. just some free advice, try not to be too negative with early posts, it won't help you.

Cheers.

Thanks for that advice, I'm just a bit fed up because of the blinkin international break I guess. I'm all excited about the PL being back, my fantasy team started well even if the 'real' team I love has been a bit so-so at the beginning of the new season. But I am normally the last person to be down about City or new City players as I am an older fan and suffered decades of hurt until 2008 happened.

It has been explained on here why it was such a late deal and I am excited to see him between the sticks.

There isn’t a goalie anywhere as good with his feet as Ederson

A trivial point, but in Donnaruma's interviews he seems to be referring to Pep simply as 'Guardiola' .

I'm sure that this will change, but I like it - suggests that he's his own man, which I think is more important for a keeper than outfield players. I don't mind a touch of arrogance when a player can back it up.
What else would he call him? Graham?

I have wondered about this. Sometimes a player as a kid is a striker and then somebody spots they might be a better midfielder (or vice versa) was Ederson an outfield player in youth football and then somehow converted to goalkeeper? Does anyone know.

Maybe more players could do it, for example a tall striker who gets the wrong side of 30 instead of retiring might try to become a goalie and play many more years than had they stayed upfront!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves it when the keeper gets sent off, all the subs have been made so one of the outfield players gets thrown a pair of gloves but sadly it doesn't really happen anymore what with all the subs that are allowed.

Didn't Niall Quinn save a penalty v Liverpool in such circumstances back in the 90s?
