Lots of people in this thread fundamentally misunderstanding what I'm actually saying because they've decided that a player they hadn't heard of a week ago is going to replace Sergio for the next decade.

I'm not saying we aren't going to add him to the first team. I'm not saying Pep doesn't like him. I'm not saying he is definitely a CFG signing. What I am saying is that I'll be surprised, pleasantly, if he becomes a first teamer because a lot of the talk around his transfer reminds me of previous signings we've made in the past that have resulted in 1 or 2 appearances in friendlies before being loaned out for 3 years and eventually sold on for a tidy profit.

I'll be jolly surprised if he's not leading our line by the end of next season.

Just seen that we've actually loaned him back to River Plate until December. So basically, if we get another striker in the summer then we're going to bring Alvarez back in a year's time (or maybe not at all).

We've made this signing to form a connection with River. We'll raise his value to about £25m with a couple of loan moves, maybe include a sell-on clause where we hand River a tidy £5-6m of any future fee, and sell him on imo.

I can’t remember us buying the best player in Argentina and the South American Player if the Year before. Time will tell but thie calibre of signing is closer to when we recruited Gabriel Jesus

If he’s not here until December 2023 I can see how some aren’t overly excited about this signing. The sooner he trains with City players and Pep he will improve but one year is a long time for his development. He’ll be 23 by the time he signs in December. I enjoyed the YouTube scouting videos of him but I can see how many are cautiously optimistic. I was surprised in our group chat how few were really bothered about the signing as he’s not here now

This does feel closer to a Jesus signing than a Moreno signing though, saying that I was excited about Moreno and Roberts and thought Brahim was going to be a world beater

I think a lot of the disappointment may be because our squad is weaker than at the start of the window as we have lost Torres to the Ramblas tramps

We've bought this player because he's going to be extremely good and will suit our style of play to a tee, in my humble.

A poster has decided that a player he hadn't heard of a week ago is not going to replace Sergio for the next decade and is going to be shipped off to parts unknown after a year without ever putting on the shirt. And at the same time said poster has basically talked speculative shite and said its because others don't understand because they have 'fundamentally' misunderstood what he's said :) brilliant. That's great! I hope you're right. I hope he signs in the summer and bangs in 30 goals next season. In fact I hope River get knocked out the Copa, allowing him to arrive next month, so he can come and win the title with us.

I know fuck all about him so I'm happy to be proved wrong, it's just been incredibly funny to be told by people in this thread (who know just as little, if not less, than I do) that I'm completely wrong and trying to bring the mood down.

My original post said I'd be surprised if he pulled a City shirt on. That's not saying it won't happen, but everyone insisted that was what I meant. I've had about 11 different responses in this thread alone. As you say, only on Bluemoon.
