I would think that if he doesn`t already City may ask him to start looking at taking English lessons, sooner rather than later.
I`m certain I read an article just before Pep arrived saying that he wanted all new signings to be able to converse in English and I think the only player who I havn`t seen in an interview speaking English is Eddie, but he may feel more comfortable in speaking in his native language.
However he can say "Call for Carson" in perfect English. ;)
According to Carson, Eddies English is broken but really good.

I watched the first half of yesterday's 0-0 friendly. This video is pretty representative of what I saw. It features 2nd half action from the latest arrivals to the River squad - Quintero and Barca - but you can watch our boy Julian at striker. He's the one in the ManCity blue boots. [wink]

I watched the entire match live yesterday to scout him. First thing I will say I noticed about him that was beyond world-class and noticeable straight away was his link up play that was as good as suarez at his prime, infact I would say that his game play until the box remind me very much of suarez. but inside the box he is not all like suarez but instead very much like agureo in that he tries to have a bust of pace on the blind side of defenders and get a first time shot, I can see where the aguero comparison comes from though I would say his burst of pace for 5 yards is not as good as aguero but the top speed is similar. added to this alvarez like jesus is a relentless presser and harasses anyone in sight. all in all it is no wonder pep bought him.

I watched a good part of Unión de Santa Fe 1 - 0 River Plate and Alvaréz didn’t look good playing in the setup below. Granted, their season is still starting, but I don’t see Pep using him like this

Bit of context omitted in that tweet, not sure if you've seen the full segment.

He said it in the context of Alvarez being versatile, but also Pep not using a 9, so he didn't think he was signed as a 9. He also said he didn't think Alvarez would get many minutes (as a 9).

Kun wasn't the Dzeko/Kane type of 9 also, he wasn't at Atletico and he wasn't while he was here so we shouldn't have any problems with Alvarez. Personally I think those free roaming attackers have always been the best fit for City, they just seem to fit in naturally.

True, just an opinion but I think players who speak some English seem to settle quicker.
Yes, I agree that knowing the language will help to settle faster, for sure. At the time we had Silva, Tevez, Zaba and Mancini aswell to help, now we have plenty of Spanish and Portuguese speaking players. Now if Alvarez was the only Spanish speaking in the team, yeah that would be very hard, so yes I agree with you

Looks good value for money , similar signing to Jesus he came under the radar if Alvarez does as well as our Brazilian ace then he will be an absolute bargain , any player signing for us knows it is a battle for game time and i am sure the lad knows he is going to have to be exceptional to get in the team .But like most Argentinians especially the players we have been lucky enough to have i expect him to work his socks off and make an impact
Great signing.
Completely agree about the Argentinian players, of all the nationalities that have graced our club they more than any others display a wonderful blend of skill, passion and workload.

Hopefully he'll be having English lessons before he arrives
